Last week, Republican Senator Jim DeMint made it pretty clear why the opponents of health care reform are fighting so hard. As he told a special interest attack group, "If we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him." Here's how the President responded:

"Think about that. This isn't about me. This isn't about politics. This is about a health care system that is breaking America's families, breaking America's businesses and breaking America's economy. And we can't afford the politics of delay and defeat when it comes to health care. Not this time, not now. There are too many lives and livelihoods at stake."

With Congress only days away from finalizing their plans for reform, it's time to stand with the President and fight back against this disastrous brand of old-style politics. So we need as many people as possible to publicly support the President's principles for health care reform and call on Congress to act.

Before the first full votes in Congress, we'll publish the signatures in newspaper ads across the nation, to make sure your voice is heard.

Watch President Obama's full response, then add your name to support reform. Or if you've already signed, please forward this message to all your friends and neighbors so they can join you.

The President is more dedicated than ever to passing health care reform that satisfies the three requirements he's been talking about for months: Health care reform must reduce costs, guarantee choice -- including the choice of a strong public insurance option -- and ensure all Americans have quality, affordable health care.

If we do not reform our broken health care system this year, we will shackle future generations with spiraling costs and deteriorating care. The cost of inaction is simply more than this country can afford.

But the special interests who profit from the status quo won't go down without a fight. The ads, the smears, and the attacks -- targeting both President Obama and members of Congress who support reform -- will only get worse. So it's crucial that we show huge backing before Congress finalizes their plans this month.

Stand with President Obama on health care reform:

I just read these same words from two national left leaning lobbyists including Moveon.org.
While I agree with the premise in the above argument, what has happened here? It's now lobbyist vs. lobbyist, with no explanation or link or ANYTHING leading to the actual bill in question.
It really starts to get insulting when we as Americans are basically being told that we can't take responsibility and read these things for ourselves.
The Republican side is even worse; they are literally inventing things about the money that would be spent on this bill. But when the Left fights back with "Oh, they only want to defeat Obama" type arguments without actually detailing the things that would be beneficial about the bill, they don't win any new friends.

My understanding is that the bill is not even written yet, and that this effort is to create a counter balance to the forces of inertia that have until now dominated D.C. politics.
We cant have this!!!!! This is America. It's "trickle down to the death". There seems to be no end to the deafness and ignorance of some people. What's worse, some of those who really need help are "buying into" the hypocracy. Like I said:
straight form the "NO WE CANT (OR WONT) people. How SAD!
I heard the President when he made that statement on TODAY. Got me to thinking. Perhaps the movement by the cRyght is backlash to the election...and I anticipate it to continue apace...until September of 2012...when the cRyght wakes up and realizes that they've contributed NOTHING....NOT ONE DAMNED THING to fix the mess left by their President and the only answer they have is NO! I wonder, then, what the backlash will bring. I'm guessing that it will NOT be pretty for those of the cRyght still standing.
Straight from the "NO WE CANT" NEOCONS!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks ZenDOG

Its not the republicans....
the democrats don't need the republicans for anything.
The democrats are getting blasted by their own constituency..
the bill is as good as dead because the dem's refuse to be bipartisan in getting a plan that works..
