We had it for centuries.

The study's interactive map gives a good, broad, overview of which countries punish apostasy and blasphemy by death (black), with prison time (red), or place legal restrictions on (non-)religious speech and thought (yellow):The countries that impose these penalties are Afghanistan, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

With the exception of Pakistan, those countries all allow for capital punishment against apostasy, i.e., the renunciation of a particular religion. Pakistan, meanwhile, imposes the death penalty for blasphemy, which can obviously include disbelief in God.

Christians didn't "lose" that power...Sane people took it away from them.

As they will the maniacs in islam and every other repressive  theocracy that comes along. It'll just take a while..

Christianity is still a repressive Religion.  Look at our TP Congress, they try to kill people every day, food stamps, gun regulation, etc. A hateful religion, but on the QT.

It brings to mind, for me, Eric Hoffer’s book The True Believer where he contends that mass movements, of which Christianity is but one example, promote the use of doctrines that elevate faith over reason and propel individual members who embrace the beliefs of the movement to exclude and oppress non believers and others who deny or reject it.  At least the Founders rejected the establishment of a religion and I expect and hope that even the Tea Partiers will be unable to change that.

Like Mormon "Blood Atonement", they'll have to kill us if they don't  :0(
