TBD on Ning

Well, the baby shower(s) are over and they were successful. You only knew about one but I'll also tell about the other one.

I was sick the week before the shower - so I wasn't able to work on decorations. I apparently had told the other grandma to be that I was going with sage green and tan because that is what she is putting in the baby's room. So she bought soap and towels and wrapped them with "it's a boy" ribbon and then I come in with decorations - frogs and ducks. But is all worked out. The ducks were in the form of bubble necklaces for the little girls, which they absolutely loved. Prior to getting sick I had picked up a dozen plants at the nursery, and because I was sick didn't pay attention to them. They were all the type that liked no attention, so the day of the shower I went to get them and they were humongous! Lots of people came, she got lots of nice things, and she hugged and thanked everyone who gave the shower except meso I told her it hurt my feelings and she, of course, had an excuse why she didn't - blah, blah, blah.

Second shower - I was at a family wake and mentioned to my cousin's wife that the women needed to have another "meeting" - we try to get together 1-2x a year at a restaurant, sans men and kids - just to talk and have fun. Cousin's wife thought that was a good idea. I then said "do you think we could make it a baby shower for my daughter" She jumped up, said 'that's a great idea' and within ten minutes had invited all the women at the wake to the restaurant for a baby shower. I bought a mess of prizes, wrapped them, and set them on the tables. Everyone was to pick a prize...then pass it to the left, then across the table, then to the right, then open it, then pass it again...Cousin's wife sat on hers cause she didn't want to part with it. It made for a lot of fun "I want that, damn you, give it to me" (We aren't really very sophisticated!) But we had fun, visited in a more pleasant atmosphere than a wake, and daughter actually had fun and I enjoyed being with her.

No baby yet - about 2 weeks left. I'll let you know when he gets here!
