After the ARAMCO Houston Half-marathon last Sunday with the cold, damp,
windy and rainy weather, it took me until the next day to warm up. They
say a person doesn't catch a cold from BEING cold, but for 3 days now, I've
had a fever and chills, a HORRIBLE sore throat and a headache, etc., so I AM
wondering if the cold weather CAN contribute to a cold!! Thank goodness, my
throat is starting to feel better - I've been treating myself with my
old-time remedy of Zinc with Vitamin C and Echinacea - I THINK it helps!!
Here are a few of the pics from the Half-Marathon

Good to see you smile in the last photo.....you are amazing!!
Try eating some chicken soup, it will help you fell better too.
Thank you Steve and Sherrie; also, thank you for the tips. This morning I sound like a frog when I talk, but at least my sore throat is gone!
I sure must have been out of it when I labeled 2 of those photos above! I had already crossed the finish line (that timing mat was behind me (I was thinking that was the one at the last mile marker), and I didn't get my newspaper sleeves off until I was waiting in the line for the finisher photos! Those endorphins after finishing that brutal race must have been too powerful!!!
I love to see this sort of thing, real people doing real things,
good on you TW, I don't think I could run to save my life now
and you look sensational !
Thank you ozzie. I'll bet you COULD run if you started out slow with short distances! I got into training for marathons by accident when a friend asked me to join Houston Fit. I thought it was a fitness program. Was I surprised when we got to the park and I had paid the registration fee, that this program was a marathon training program!! At that time I said, "I can't do this!" I DID stick with it, and after a hamstring injury my first year of training, I DID complete my first marathon in 2000 when I was 61. Due to a torn hamstring last year, I missed out on any long races, and due to some hamstring and sciatic nerve problems THIS year I missed out on 2 months of training, but at least this year I did recover enough to finish the Half-Marathon. So there are NO excuses!!
