May we never forget those who lost their lives 71 years ago today.
These brave men and women were true heroes.
May God bless their families and loved ones always.

I posted this on FB today: "How ironic that there was a 7.3 earthquake in Japan today, December 7th, 2012, when it's our Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day."

A friend posted this on her FB timeline today re Peal Harbor Day: "I wonder how many of our young people have any idea what today is and what it represents."

My comment to that on FB was:  "When I was shopping at Lowes with my remodeling friend (who's in his early 40's) today, I mentioned that ironic statement I posted above when we were at the checkout register.  The cashier was a fellow who was even younger, and neither one of them said a word when I mentioned that  co-incidence about the earthquake in Japan and Pearl Harbor Day.   They both had puzzled looks on their faces, so I had to fill them in about the events of December 7th, 1941.  I didn't realize there was such a generation gap - Kinda sad, isn't it??"

I took away my normal photo on Facebook this morning and added this photo and got only a few responses

it is strange to me that some Americans would only remember a celebrity's death but not Pearl Harbor Day

where their long gone relatives died in that war or had to endure the hardships here in the states to help with the war effort for our troops and our freedom which means their freedom to remember that  celebrity's death

It's sad that they aren't learning history anymore in school.  A friend I have been getting to know told me his birthday was on an important day in December.  He was surprised that I knew that it was on December 7.  He said another friend thought it was on Christmas.

It is sad as that generation is almost gone and many of the ones coming up don't even know about it.
