TBD

TBD on Ning

I like to rent movies online (mostly from iTunes) and since they're only a few bucks, I'm not real picky about which ones I rent. However, sometimes I feel like even a few bucks is too much to pay for some of the crap I rent!

I'm pretty careful when selecting a movie, I'll read the reviews that are listed with the movie description and will always watch the trailer. Then, if it interests me, I'll rent it.

Last night I rented "Alex Cross" -- what an absolute piece of garbage! Bad writing, bad acting, bad directing, bad bad bad. Total waste of my time.

Does this ever happen to you? What do you do? Have you ever stopped watching a bad movie, or are you like me and watch the whole thing thinking it'll get better?

I've had it happen.  Sometimes I'll watch it through to the bitter end, other times I'll just turn it off and return it (I usually rent from RedBox for $1.20 per movie).  I had Netflix for awhile and watched a lot of stuff just because I could and that's when I REALLY saw some bad movies, lol!

I also had Netflix but canceled it at the end of the free trial period because there was little or nothing I wanted to watch.

I got that free trial Netflix when I was in Chicago and I loved it because I like historical movies and they had a good amount there. Every time I stopped watching one they would send me some more to choose from. The other stuff I noticed were all very old movies that I had seen before. I don't think they have a good selection, I guess.

Got my NOOk set up yesterday, its pretty good. The thing I don't like about Netflix, Hula and all those is that I don't like giving out my credit card or bank account.Getting them from B&N I can just use my gift cards. did find a place that has older movies for free, they have commercials (but its free) Crackle.

I wonder if I can get that down here in Mexico?

You know, there are complaints here that there aren't very many "good" movies anymore.  But truth be told - there are!  They may not be any of those "box office hits" and you may have to search for those "sleepers", indy films, documentaries or foreign films, but there is a lot of good stuff out there.  You just have to look!

Two movies I loved last year....

"Hope Springs", with Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones.....about a couple married 30 years who go to a counselor to try to put the zing back in their marriage.

And "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" about 6 seniors from England who go to India for various reasons....mostly because they can live cheaper there.  The cast is golden.....Dame Judy Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, and some faces you will know from other British films. They are lured to India by an ad they read on the Internet telling them to come to this beautiful hotel which has been converted for seniors' retirement living.  When they get there, they find an old run-down hotel owned by a charming young Indian boy whose father had dreams of making the hotel over, and died before he could.  So now the son wants to make his father's dream come true.  It's funny, it's touching, it's artfully filmed, and poignantly portrayed.

It's about time they realized that maybe Baby Boomers would like to see movies about their generation.

i just watch old/older movies on tv.

I don't remember watching any new movies in years.  I still like A Bronx Tale and Good Fellas.

watched Goodfellas last night

Two great movies especially "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel".  I could see myself living there! ;-)
