Can one still make resolutions when one is over forty?

Very nice Tw.  Happy new year!

Steve, I didn't know you had a birthday recently.  Happy Birthday.  I don't think we are ever too old to make resolutions.  I'm a big goal setter, from being in real estate for 27 years.  Now I apply it to walking, weight loss, eating better (not with the holidays).  My goal this year is to start exercising in the house.  I need to get my son to hook the dvd player up, so I can walk in the living room.  That's my goal, until it warms up, plus walking at least a mile a day any day it's not nasty outside over the winter.

Happy new year, Steve

A Healthy 2013 New Year's Resolution - Make Regular Exercise a Healthy Lifestyle Routine in 2013!

It's good for the body, mind and spirit; it helps maintain and improve heart health; and it reduces the risk of diseases such as diabetes and Alzheimer's.
We can always find excuses not to exercise, but there really is no good reason.  All most people need is 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity at least four days a week, including at least two days of strength training, and a stretching routine, and it's easy to begin.  We can rent fitness DVDs, join a gym, make an appointment with a personal trainer or simply get some friends together for daily walks, runs, etc.

Thank you Steve!

That CAN happen, Steve, re the anexoria.  I've had 5 knee surgeries, but running seems to help the arthritis in my knees due to the scar tissue from the surgeries.  I only do one marathon or half marathon a year, and I don't do speed training anymore to try to save my knees.  So far, so good!!

I would love to be able to start running, but I'm so afraid of re injuring my ankle.  TW does that mat help do exercises.  I laid on my LR floor, which for some reason has carpet but no padding, and it was painful on my back.  The bed's too soft.

I used to have carpet on the floor, and I used one mat for floor work; but I've had the tile now for almost a year.  I actually have TWO mats now, one on top of the other one.  One is just not enough on that hard floor!

Great resolution Maria, and wonderful discipline to do a terrific workout like that one!!

Dear Abby -Resolutions - If Just For Today

Welcome to a brand-new year - 2013!
Here is Dear Abby’s list of new year’s resolutions that I’ve seen posted in the New Year’s Day Houston Chronicle and other newspapers for years.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will live through this day only. I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow. I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once. I know that I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me. If my mind fills with clouds, I will chase them away and fill it with sunshine.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things that I can correct and accept those I cannot.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. I will not be a mental loafer.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will make a conscious effort to be agreeable. I will be kind and courteous to those who cross my path, and I’ll not speak ill of others. I’ll improve my appearance, speak softly, and not interrupt when someone else is talking. Just for today, I’ll refrain from improving anybody but myself.

... JUST FOR TODAY, I will gather the courage to do what is right and take responsibility for my own actions.
