TBD

TBD on Ning

Many of us live in places right where we grew up and some of us have moved all over.  If you had a choice about where to live, where would you like to live?  What would keep you from moving there?  I grew up i NY and lived in NJ for a number of years, but have lived in Maryland for almost 24 year.  I would love to live somewhere warm, but would really miss my kids and grandkids.

i was born 2 house away from where i live now.

I live in Colo. and have never found a place I like better. We have wonderful weather and when we do get a storm it usually only last a day. ( not talking about the ski and mountain areas that you see on TV with the 60 inches of snow. Sun shine over 350 days a year. We have the big city life with in driving time of almost anywhere, of course the Mountains and we have the plains. We have good Broadway theater , local theater, lots of sports and festival, a great zoo . If you are retired the 1st $20,000 of your pension is tax free and right now if you have lived in your house 10 years and are 65  you get a 50% break on property taxes. And one set of my kids live a few blocks away.

Roslyn, Pa. One half hour from center city Philadelphia. I live where the pink arrow is pointing. I love the change of seasons, the closeness to a large city, the small town ambiance.

i'm at the halfway mark between Philly and NYC

Hi Neighbor.

You live in a tree? LOL

I'm usually out on a limb.

Good one! LOL

you're quick

Florisconsin! (Florida-Wisconsin) -- would love to be a snow bird, but I'm still working, so for now I maintain homes in both states, live in Florida and go to Wisconsin as many as 6 times a year. Family keeps me in Florida, other family draws me to my home state of Wisconsin.

I've always been adventurous. I grew up in Philly and hated the snow and cold winter....moved to the SF bay area in '73 and lived there until 2004 when I had to move to VA to take care of my Mom. After my mom passed away in 2009, I started making plans to move back to CA and returned in Sept 2012 (I hated VA....lol). Before CA I lived in NY for a short time (I love NY and wish it was on the west coast. Too damn cold for me to live there full time...lol) I always fantasized about living on the island of Tahiti....beach house and catching fish every day. No headaches from living in a dog eat dog world....lol. Lately I've been thinking about moving to somewhere in South America or Costa Rica. The world has always been an interesting place to me, full with lots of cultures and places to experience. I'm always interested in knowing what's out there beyond my sight......lol.

Ideally, I want to live where I can see mountains and ocean.  Of the 38 states I have been to.....I find what I want mostly in the state of Washington.  I visited up there when my son was in Flight School at NAS Whidbey Island.  Seattle is too busy and too expensive.  I like the islands.  I would happily live in Oak Harbor, or Anacortes.  Ferry boats to get to the mainland or other islands.....water everywhere.....gorgeous sunsets.....and the Olympia and Cascade mountain ranges.  As a matter of fact, Anacortes has Mt. Erie right across the water.  It rains a lot, but that doesn't bother me.....at least there isn't much snow....unless you go into the mountains.  The flora and fauna are breathtaking.  I never felt so close to God.

The second runner-up would be the North Carolina coastline.  I love the out islands, and if I want mountains, I just have to go a couple hours west.  Only drawback is the heat in the summer.  Me and that "bake-your-brains" heat just don't get along.

Unfortunately, I would miss my kids terribly, and would have to have the finances to fly home as often as I wanted.....or send the kids tickets to come visit me.
