I will certainly pay my respects to the men and women who violently overthrew the government between 1776 and 1783.

On July 3, the Riverside Philharmonic Orchestra will conduct the 13th annual Concert for Heroes at the Riverside National Cemetery.  This is the only such program within the National Cemetery system and it is an awesome event.  We will pack a picnic supper and enjoy the music and the fireworks, plus honor the veterans who are in attendance.  It is not unusual to find a Medal of Honor winner there....quite an honor to meet someone who has given so much for our freedom.  Oh!  and I should mention it's free!

It sounds like a wonderful time.

We're planning a BBQ for the building. Two of my sons will be here, possibly a third one and some of the neighbors.  After we all have plenty of food most of us are going to the local parade.  I'll have my granddaughter there and it's her first 4th of July and I think by step-grandson will be here.  He's a great kid that's almost 8, so we'll have fun.  I'm sure his mom will sit with me and the rest of us while my son sells waters along the parade route.  A couple of my sons and my granddaughter and her mom are going to the fireworks, but I'll stay back here and watch "A Capital fourth" from the mall in Washington dC on MPT.  I'm too old and unsteady on my feet to be walking around in the dark at a park.  I enjoy the music from the military bands that play on that show.  Glad to hear most of you have plans.  It's such a joyful holiday.

Our community had the fireworks and parade yesterday (6/29) Fireworks are cheaper the weekend before the REAL 4th.

Its my youngest sons 49th b/d. We will have a few friends in for a cook-out and b/d cake. Most of the fireworks displays have been canceled since it is so dry and the fire danger so high.

Maria, how are you.  Good to see you on here.  I love hot and humid.

Well, the funny thing is I have been off EVERY Thursday (PLUS Sat & Sun) for the past 6 months while I LIVED with my 83 year old  client but she decided she doesn't need as much care (and I do agree) so I moved OUT this week (and back to my own home) and SUDDENLY, I have off from Fridays to Sundays now. I have ONLY been fighting to have my days off GROUPED together since JANUARY!!!! ANd it COMES on the 4th of July! OH WELL!!  I MAY go up to my aunt's cottage on Lake Erie for the weekend.
