I'm just getting over a cold/sinus thing that makes me choke from post nasal drip every night. I am also currently looking for crispy sheets--I don't like brushed or sateen or microfiber or jersey sheets. Then I thought about why I am manic for the sheets right now.
When I had a cough/cold as a child in my bed with the clean crispy sheets that were hung out on the line, my mother would come in in the middle of the night to help stop the cough. She would put a flannel rag on the radiator, one of those old metal radiators that clanged as the heat came up, to warm it , put Vick's on my chest and under my nose, then put that wonderful hot cloth on my chest and all was right with the world. Sigh.... So being sick is one of my favorite memories.

I remember making my mother cry... apparently, I was pretty near-sighted but as a kid, I didn't know that you were supposed to be able to see across the street. I did fail all the school eye tests, they just made me closer to the chalkboard. finally got glasses when I was 10 and walked home from school one day with them on and for the first time I saw leaves on the trees and blades of grass! they used to be just a big green blur. told my mother, she cried having had no idea I was blind as a bat...
Thinking it's mostly related to music. I remember singing with my Mom and Dad and all the relatives. Many played instuments and would teach the young ones who were interested...ahhhhh....and the dancing!!!! My Dad would hold me and swing me around and let me dance on top of his feet.
We would come to visit in the Summer..and it would usually start when a some of the menfolk would go fishing...then a big fish fry and so on and so on. Good times.
