That's what i meant Rose .....

Until recently, I was very satisfied, but now we seem to have reached a disconnect.  I believe the new drug he put me on is causing me side effects.  He blows that off.  It concerns me.

I felt that way about one of my doctors . I decided to see an internal doctor for me . He has helped me a lot since 2007 .

i trusted my last doctor alot, but she moved out of state.my new doctor is useless.

My favorite Dr. moved to Tenn. to help care for his mom, I trusted him to the max. My newest Dr. likes to play by all the rules, I question him a lot, I know he isn't totally comfortable with that but last visit I told him I wanted to go back to an old med because it worked when the newer stuff doesn't. He agreed with me. I was sort of surprised by that because he usually tries to sway me to his choice. I always advocate for my own health and research. I think most doctors are too influenced by the drug companies...me not at all.

I don't have a doctor since my OB/GYN, who I trusted with my whole heart and soul, died.  I go to walk-in places when I am sick.  I guess now that I'm old, I'd better get one.

I am very skeptical of preventive care.  I think colonoscopies and mammograms and cholesterol tests and whatever, are all over rated and are part of the health industrial complex.

Ex:  Their is a type of breast cancer, intraductal something something, that is non-invasive and MAY turn into invasive cancer in ten to fifteen years or may not.  Many many autopsies show women with this type of cancer but they did not die from it; they died for other reasons.  A mammogram shows this intra-ductal carcinoma.  Many many younger women have mastectomies, sometimes double mastectomies and reconstruction, and radiation treatment to get rid of it. ( It is the kind of cancer that the docs thought I may have had according to my mammography, but I did not go for a scheduled mammography.  I felt a lump which led me to the test. The lump was nothing.)  Everybody makes money, the women feel better since they got rid of the "cancer," but many many articles feel it is highly overtreated; doctors are forced to tell the patient about it, however, or they would be remiss.  Had I had it, I may have agreed to a lumpectomy  but not a mastectomy and radiation that would make me sick.  If the cancer may or may not develop in 15 years, I'd take my chances.  Luckily, I was benign.

Also, years ago I worked doing transcribing for a CAT scanning center.  The young neurosurgeons who owned it fed the machines with patients to pay it off.  I sent out so many NORMAL reports.

I do not trust the medical INDUSTRY.

THERE not their--aagghh!

I trust the medical industries like i trust the insurance company's . My Doctor does give me a lot of Levemir insulin sample to help me in cost . I am already in donut hole . First Levemir i bought was over 3 thousand dollars . Cost 105 dollars now with donut hole it cost almost 4 hundred dollars . My doctor more or less saved me my life back in November of 2011 .

My doctor saved my life in 2007.  I trust her totally.  She listens, and is also a good friend.  She does love to want tests done but I get what I feel I need to get done and ignore the rest.

The last time I needed a doctor was about 10 years ago when I was being treated for Lyme Disease. He was a specialist and I drove 6 hours to see him every few months. He was an AMAZING doctor in general and had spoken around the world, heard people speak,  and wrote reports of what he learned at conference about Lyme Disease. I KNOW it sounds boring btu there are so many mysterious aspects of Lyme Disease, it helps when someone   can solve some of the issues. Now I'm healed for the most part.

I JUST recently got insurance and want to get a physical, blood work, etc. EVERYTHING I've been missing but that will be like finding a needle in a haystack, maybe. MAYBE NOT?

3 memebers of my sister's family has Lyme Disease.i went thru that whole battery of tests to see if i have it,i'm good...so far.

Tests for Lyme Disease are not reliable unless you JUST got bit by the tick that gave it to you. I had all the tests and they came out fine...all the while I had symptoms for 15 years till this doctor found it. My ex husband ALSO had a test in about 1992 and suffered LONGER than me and even ended up unable to move by himself by the time he was diagnosed and treated about 2 years ago. (We divorced 4 years ago)  MY daughter displays symptoms but its a very expensive disease to treat and insurance doesnt USUALLY cover it.
