sort of like the global village......who's zooming who....and then again when did the news become about celebrities instead of statesmen? get all the latest on some halfwit and his new tattoos and cars....a serial scumbag and his or her new twolegged toy til next week...that rehab is a rite of passage for young people...that this is perfectly acceptable behavior for a 'lady' at a game...

yeah its a shame you can't just watch a game to see a good game.. some people carry it to extremes as if they were part of the team . don't get me wrong , ain't nothin wrong with cheerin your hometeam on but when it gets fanatical its time to take up quiltin or somethin ..

you couldn't be more right,"the world is nuts".i'm glad i'm not growing up in these times.i was happier when i didn't know anything.

which means they had to sift the news to report the important stories in a limited amount of time rather than try to fill 24/7 of gaping air with any kind of bullshit to pass it off as 'news'...and in addition, the people who were in the journalism business in those days WERE journalists. they had cut their teeth on writing actual news stories and getting the facts right...the who, what, when, where and why in each story in a literate format which was comprehensible by the readers. you might compare that to the present bobblehead dolls who read copy before the cameras and yet don't even have the light go on when the copy is incomprehensible garbled verbiage often devoid of complete sentences and absent the five w's. saw a great one the other day of a dippy blonde explaining a story by repeating the same sentence and words over again....reminded me of an illiterate defining a word by repeating the word rather than giving a definition. no wonder we are up to our asses in ignorance

Give me back Walter Cronkite....

yep

I dont think its more common now....back in "OUR" childhoods, sexual abuse was taboo and not believed when people DID tell about it. And if it WAS told, nothing really happened to the perpatrator. I was TERRIFIED of starting junior high because a few older friends had said that the "Shop" teacher was fondling the girls in the "darkroom" so we were ALL scared when we were in the "Photography semester".  It was hard to tell what was rumor and what wasnt but I had heard he got "in trouble" because someone told so that was the supposed reason that he wasn't the Shop Teacher attending the Darkroon by the time I had Photography class. But  apparently, he didnt get in TOO MUCH trouble since he was at that school till retirement, which was around the time I graduated. He WAS a creepy "old" man though!
