Sufism....another curiosity...doing a little research...

I was reading some eastern inspired poetry, came upon Rumi, a Sufist mystic poet....and of course everyone makes videos don't they...and thought I would share.

Some sprituality...what could it hurt?

Anybody practice meditation?

I used to...got out of the practice. I found it helpful as a stress reliever....Many spiritual practices these days incorporate some type or style of meditation. I learned meditation techniques from a practioner of TM where I was being treated for Cancer...

 I am thinking it might help me with some other stuff too...

Before I married my husband I used to go to a Sufi center with friends to chant. I always like the purifying ceremony with white sage.  I do meditation not as frequently as I used to, guess I don't need it as much. We do a 10 minute meditation after our water aerobics class twice per week, it is so relaxing in the pool heated to 88 degrees deep breathing that's my favorite meditation.

here's a little more about sufism .. there's quite a bit to it .. on the one hand they say you have to be a muslim to practice it yet there are a lot of muslims that want to kill them too .. and among many muslims they are persecuted and treated like 2nd class citizens ..

can't acess the wiki reference you posted frenchy, but if you are interested keep looking at other wiki posts or also lots of other references...

there is lots to it...lots of history there and lots of different incantations from the first references in Islam to what is generally practiced these days...interesting stuff.

there other videos on youTube also...from the guy in the video, to stuff from the history channel and i think maybe even pbs..

I was reading about the Sufi center on the internet..thanks for sharing that...I don't think there is one in FL...specially around here.

I was talking to my Aunt who was watching Oprah's TV station earlier and she was sharing what she watched....and I'll be damned if it wasn't a program about Sufism and this guy from this video was on it...it must esp or maybe espn...LOL!
