TBD

TBD on Ning

i own a guild guitar and get an email from guild every month or so lettin me know whats up and whats new .. and they often have guys playin their guitars and feature them in their guild lounge which i think is a little airstream camper trailer .. not a lot of room to manuver so it gives the performance a real feel of closeness that you wouldn't get on a big stage .. so this group of guys are aptly names sons of the fathers .. and the song is .. sons of the fathers .. and its basicly about bein the sum of who your father and grandfather were .. and it made me think .. actually i had just seen this commercial from centurylink about a father who's tellin his young son they can't go to the ball game cause the kid broke his leg . of course the kids still wants to go anyway so the dad not wantin to totally disappoint him moves the big screen outside along with a couple of soda and motions the kid to come out and join him .. and then you see them watchin the game and a foul ball and the dad throws up a baseball for the kid to catch it as if he was at the game .. i thought it was a really good commercial .. it showed a dad spendin quality time with his kid .. made me think what it might have been like cause my dad was way gone and i have hardly no memories of him for most of my life .. fast forward to this song from the guild guitar site .. and my point .. and i do have one .. if we are all the sons of our fathers then how much of our thinkin is really our own original point of view ?? all my life i always wondered what it would be like to have a dad like other kids but because i didn't i had to learn a lot of things and decide a lot of things on my own .. if my dad was a bad person he didn't get a chance to pollute my mind is one way to look at it .. or to brainwash me into thinkin like him might be another .. so i guess that would be my question of the day .. how much do you think your dad ( or your mom too ) had to do with the way you see things now ?? and how hard was it if you saw your parents doin somethin you thought was totally wrong and tellin them so ?? or did you just hold it all in just to keep the peace and say nothin ?? here's the song that sparked it all .. after the commercial that gave me the warm fuzzies ..

(you just like them sweaty young guys, callie)

all of us are the product of our parents and our reactions to the parents but we end up more like them than we ever thought we would. go look in the mirror and odds are you can see your dad or mom looking back at you. and you probably catch yourself sounding like them.

What great music!!  Started my day on a good note, thanks.  My father was my idol. Like Callie's dad, he did wonder at times but he was always there for me right or wrong.

Really enjoyed that vid . Seemed a little like Crobsy , Stills and Nash Young . Looks like that Accordian been a few miles ....

My dad and mom never did anything wrong unless it was hid . I found out after dad passed away that he was 75 years old . Had been married before when he was in the Army Airforce . Only married 2 weeks till he found out his wife was screwing around him. Mom never knew . He was always good to us . He married mom in 1949 . I was born 9 months later . I myself turned out a mamas boy . Every time I wanted to get out on my own she would write notes in a letter making me feel ashamed or guilty . Both my parents was there for us ( Brother) Richard . I never could talk to my mom about things . But my granma was different.  She always give mr good advice .One time I walked tova store and bought me a pack of cigarettes . Cost me 21 cents . Was 14 years old . Looked mailbox . Walked down the hill . Mom was in yard . As I handed her the mail she took my pack of cigarettes . Later on dad came out of Winndixie and put a pack of cigarettes in my pocket . I lost my interest in cigarettes till I got married . Sure do miss my parents  . No one left to talk too anymore . Won't hear from kids again this fathers day and that sucks big time . Birthdayis Sunday Also .....

Happy Birthday in advance, Wayne! I might forget to tell you then. Mine is today, so we are fellow Geminis. :-)
Happy Birthday Karin.....hope you get some cake....and a good day.

Hope ya have a good birthday Karen with lots of love and good friends around you ....

Chief, they would. I think (for the most part) our generation turned out pretty darn good compared to what I see of todays.  If I screwed up at school I got "pops" there and when I got home I got the same.  Kids today pretty much get  by with anything.

I think our generation did good . I never really starting loving music till I learned to. Listen to it , then I could sing . Maybe not good but I tried . The Country music today ain't real Country music . Only wooping I got in school was in 4th grade for lifting a girls dress up to take a look ....

Not much on lyrics but the rhythms were really fun. Looks like they were having a good time.
Nature vs nurture in different amounts, for sure...we are a blend, even those things we add to the mix.
