the town i live in never had school buses,it's a really small town, but,my pop drove a school bus in the 60's,i remember he would park it on the side of our house and me and my brothers were always climbing all over it.do the whole roof-surfing thing.

In elementary  I rode a bike. Jr high on I either rode with someone or drove myself.  (I got my license aat 14)

My oldest Daughter drives a bus and works in Cafeteria at the high school i attended . Since I've always lived in a rural setting our schools were far a part and had to ride the bus . Got to high school . Road the bus till i got my License and car . The Girls rode the bus also till they got their license and car . The grand kids were taken to school ..

Way to much responsibility to drive a bus , no no no

I am so sick of kids and their needs and their shenanigans and their drama, my answer to would you ever want to drive a school bus is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

LOLOL...how many more days crest?

For me grade school was a few blocks from home, we went home for lunch. Jr High and High school about a mile away so I always walked, a mile seemed fairly close back then. There were no school busses in our town of 2 miles sq. 11 grade schools and the jr and high schools centrally located so no one walked more than a mile.

We had to take public transportation to school ( fr me it was the #42 bus) but in those days, the darn buses broke down in the coldest weather, so we had to walk, about a two miles, to high school.  For elementary school, there were no buses.  I lived in a city, so we were all used to walking to and from, even for lunch. From 4th to 8th grade, the walk was  about a mile.

i always walked to school cept when i broke my leg .. my mom would drop me off on her way to work .. but even then half the time i still walked anyway with the broken leg .. i got around pretty good actually .. but back to the question .. drive a school bus ?? no ..  HELL NO ..  i'd probably kill one of them little bastards .. well maybe not kill em .. but i'm sure i'd be stoppin the bus a lot .. pretty soon if they had half a brain they'd realize if they were jumpin all around back there while i was drivin like mexican jumpin beans it would take me twice as long to get em home cause of all the times i had to stop .. if they didn't realize it then i'd remind em .. every 2 minutes .. DON'T MAKE ME HAVE TO STOP THIS BUS ..

I lived close enough to walk to elementary school and took public transportation to high school. There's not enough money in the world to get me to drive a school bus these days!!

we all walked to grade school when we lived in the city....when we moved to the country, it was busses for most everyone.  and nope, no desire whatsoever to be a driver!

We also had a lot of break down , many roads weren't paved in those days . Bus would get stuck on a hill . Wrecker would come and winch the bus up the hill . One time the bus slid off road against an electric fence . We all got a charge that time . One afternoon we were going home . The bus stopped to let a boy around 7 to 8 years old . A car came toward us speeding and i saw the car hit that boy flat in the back . He died soon after . The driver left the scene and went to a doctor to get some kind of shot to some how mask the fact he was drunk . Then he came back . Never did hear if he got out of it or not ...That was back in 1958 ...
