i can't help but think this is all just a metaphor for love .. sometimes we just give up and we settle .. anybody here think they've settled ??
I worked hard, but not for the money
Did my best to please
I used to think it was funny
'Til I realized it was just a tease
Don Quixote had his windmills
Ponce de Leon took his cruise
Took Sinbad seven voyages
To see that it was all a ruse
(That's why I'm) Looking for the next best thing
Looking for the next best thing
I appreciate the best
But I'm settling for less
'Cause I'm looking for the next best thing
Looking for the next best thing
All alone on the road to perfection
At the inspection booth they tried to discourage me
You can believe what you want--that'll never change it
You'll have to come around eventually
(And you'll be) Looking for the next best thing
Looking for the next best thing
I appreciate the best
But I'm settling for less
'Cause I'm looking for the next best thing
Looking for the next best thing
I'm looking for the next best thing

Congratulations - and many, many more happy years to come, I hope!
Nice picture lifes...a good thing for both of you....its great when things work out for you.
Between my FIRST boyfriend after my divorce was final to meeting my current boyfriend almost 2 years ago, I was all into this "finding your soul mate" business. I'm not even totally SURE I know what that means but when I met Mark, I thought maybe I was getting "close". But sometimes I ask myself if I am settling. And I have decided over and over again that despite his "issues" (we ALL have them, right?), I dont see any good reason to break up and move on. He is one of the kindest, most loving people I have ever met and he tells ME the same. (whether its true or NOT, he feels that strongly about ME and that means a lot). He encourages me to be myself, embrace life, and reach for my dreams. His family loves me, my family loves him. I DO NOT believe in changing anyone so whoever he is and whatever he DOES is just going to be a part of him, no matter what. There are some things I dont like about him and there are some things he doesnt like about me but its stuff we can live with I suppose. He has NEVER been on an airplane and I doubt that will change anytime soon. He has BARELY been out of the city, let alone the STATE of Pennsylvania. (He has been to Ohio and Michigan) We have already had this discussion and I told him, I would LOVE to "see the world" (or just the USA, even) with him BUT if he doesnt want to go, would he mind if I travelled with friends? He gave me his blessing...LOL!!
well kim , to repeat what a little girl with ruby slippers once said .. there's no place like home click click click there's no place like home click click click there's no place like home click click click .. took her a scarecrow a tin man a cowardly lion and a wizard and a couple of witches to make her see that .. everything she ever needed was in her own backyard .. but if you should go out on your own , you just might find you wish you were back home with him .. ehh.. maybe not .. maybe thats how you'll know..
I am actually the ULTIMATE homebody and HE is like that too. It actually suits us both well for the most part but I do have a little taste for the different, unique, and exotic now and then. I think and talk about all this travelling but I will be lucky if I ever can pull enough money together for ONE exotic trip let alone MORE than THAT!! Last year, when I got my accident settlement, I put $4,000 into going to Africa on a mission trip. It was my dream to go on a mission trip to a third world orphanage (ANY one would have been fine) AND to go to Africa and it just sort of POPPED up as an opportunity at my church so I went but I must say, Africa itself OVERALL, was a bit of a disappointment. But of course, I went to a part that was pretty remote and wild animals? Forget about it....saw a lot of cows and chickens. I PLAYED with some Serval kittens but they're tamer than some American Domestic cats!! Besides seeing some Leopard prints outside my room and on the beach, THAT was my only wild animal encounter. They had done this mission trip for 11 years and we were like the FIRST group who didnt go on a safari due to running out of time in last couple days and too far to go if we wanted to make our plane.
