'Hall-oween and Oates': Daryl Hall Opens New Venue With Spooky Show
On Halloween night (Friday, Oct. 31), Daryl's House, the new bar and venue owned by Hall and Oates songwriter Daryl Hall, opens in Pawling, New York. To celebrate, Hall is joining his bandmate John for a show cheekily billed "Hall-oween and Oates." "I've played many Halloween shows over the years," he says over the phone. "But never anything like this."
The idea for the bar started with Hall's "Live From Daryl's House" web series, a show that recruits acts like Chromeo, Cee Lo Green and Fitz and the Tantrums to join him for sessions at his actual home. "Over the years so many people have said, 'Wow man, I love the show. Can I come watch?'" he explains. "One of the points of the show is that we don't have an audience, but I figured why don't I have a place where the acts that play on Daryl's House and acts like them could come?"
Modeled after the actual house, the venue will fit between 300 and 400 people and cultivate an atmosphere that Hall describes as "like a clubhouse." Keeping with the spirit of the web series, Hall-oween and Oates will also be broadcast live on Yahoo Friday night at 9 p.m. EST and replayed throughout the following 24 hours.
