TBD

TBD on Ning

Sunday night Downton Abbey is off, but the Oscars is on.  I usually see many of the movies either with my son for free on Tuesday night (Optonline offers free tickets to the movies in NJ on Tuesdays) or get them "somehow" so that I know what's up.

Anyone else? If so, which movies did you like?

If not, nevermind, lol.

I watch it for the pretty colors --like flipping pages in a magazine, and for the clips, especially for the clips.

I grew up watching the Oscars with my mom.  She looked forward to it all year.  It was one of the only nights I got to stay up late.  We'd pop corn and have soda (something we didn't have in the house regularly).  We'd root for our favorite actors and look at all the beautiful dresses.  Mom used to subscribe to Photoplay Magazine.  She knew all the stars.

I love movies.  I seldom watch them at home, though.  I never rent them, and seldom buy them (unless they have Johnny Depp in them).  I have seen Lincoln, and am seeing Zero Dark Thirty and Argo as soon as possible.  I missed Les Miserables, but I love the story.  I just may buy that movie.....Musicals are the only other movies I don't mind watching more than once.  I don't know a lot of the very young actors, I'll admit, but I'm open to learning who they are, because some of them are pretty darned good, and they'll be around for a while.  Even Clark Gable was young once.  And I'm sure way back when.....someone once said, "Who the heck is John Wayne; what's he in?"

So every year I watch the Oscars. And now that Mom is gone, I feel she is with me in spirit as I look at all the lovely ladies and the dapper gentlemen.  Oh, how she would have loved George Clooney!!!  Her kind of man.  Tonight I have chips and salsa, and a bottle of Sam Adams Boston Lager.  And the salute to James Bond and the salute to movie musicals tonite was great. So I will continue to go to movies, and continue to watch the Oscars.  I don't care who wins.  It's the salute to movies and the emotional tie to my mom that keeps me coming back.

Sweet, Karin.  As I'm watching, Im thinking TOO MUCH MUSIC!  I'm glad someone is enjoying the songs.  Now Adele is supposed to sing.  I would like to fast forward...

I just watched the film ,,,, Life of PI , wonderful ,,, movie & great production. There are such lots of lessons to learn from this film.
