TBD

TBD on Ning

Francine Wheeler and Peter Yarrow discuss with Bill the power of music to create change, and their mission to protect children and adults from gun violence in communities across America. We also see excerpts from the concert, soon to appear on many public television stations. Later, the conversation continues as David Wheeler joins his wife to talk about what can be done and if the gun issue can be addressed in a way that includes diverse viewpoints and bypasses partisan brinkmanship.

Francine Wheeler is one of the mothers whose son was killed.

Peter Yarrow is from Peter, Paul, and Mary.

This is a Bill Moyers program. We are from the generation that was big about using music to try and bring about social change. The premise is how might music be used to try and bring people from much different viewpoints together to start a real discussion rather just yelling out bumper sticker crap about gun violence and the second amendment.

Interesting conversation. Moyers always makes me feel like a grownup with at least half a brain and always has something to add to the current social issues. Thought I'd share. You can download the whole program on iTunes or just watch exceprts with this link.

I enjoy listening to Bill Moyers and many others and yes fox has some good ones to listen to also . I hope the Sandy Hook promises can be made so . We do need Gun control of some kind . It may not take away the pain of loosing loved one but it could be a start .

I do own an old pressure cooker and a lot of beans ....

I don't understand how, as a society, we have allowed ourselves to become so polarized. How did some folks become so fearful and threatened? Of course we all have rights...and we must take responsiblity for those rights.

I do think it might be helpful to dial back some of the rhetoric...and maybe music and poetry could be a vehicle to help do that.
