Not having the same access to frequent sex as I had in my past because of health issues in my house, I avoided these books and will avoid the movie.  I don't want to be reminded what I'm missing :(. It's few and far between now.

TMI?

I read the books, they were titillating for sure but not that well written.   It seemed more like a vanilla version of Dominance and submission, that might be more tolerable to the "regular" world than something a bit more real.  Kind of like kink for the masses.  LOL  However, given the reaction of so many women, my advice to men was to read the book and learn something.  I probably will not go to the theater to see the film, and from the trailer, the casting is all wrong, which would ruin it for me anyway.  One of the best things about a good book, is that the author takes you on a journey with your imagination.  Sometimes the films just can't capture that journey properly for you.  I think this would be one of those times.

i haven't read the book but then if i did i'm sure the film would be quite different anyway .. hollywood never misses a chance to screwup a good book does it now ?? so that in itself might be a plus if i was to see the film .. and while i know it deals with a world of sex that most are clueless about truth be told it was never really my world .. don't get me wrong i've had my encounters so i'm no saint , but it wasn't my thing .. i can play along a little if it makes my partner happy , but only so far .. i actually had one girl say i was just too vanilla for her ( which is what they call someone who is not what they call "IN THE LIFE"  ) some just need more stimulation than i can provide .. i make no judgements tho .. i'm sure if i won't be the one to beat em and leave marks someone else will .. and they'll enjoy doin it too .. just my 2 cents

See Frenchy, I agree.  And I think why most women liked this book is because there was something in Mr. Gray that needed to be "fixed" and for all his "kink", he was a very sensitive lover, taking the time and interest in pleasing, really pleasing, his partner.  The fact that women liked Christian because he had wounds that needed to be healed is kinda sad in my estimation, but the part that man could learn from is the parts about pleasing their partners.  Not so much the techniques, that is personal and up to the participants, but listening and learning what makes your partner tick sexually...that is the lesson most men could learn and the result would be more sex more often!  LOL I don't think you are in that category of men, in fact you could probably give tutorials yourself...but it could be good advice for the younger generation.  Just saying.
