Films that are duplicates of others

I finally got around to watching Avatar and I liked it very much, but it reminded me of other movies I had seen like Princess Mononoke. My friend said it reminded her of something else (but now I've forgotten which film.)Shanghai Noon is really just another version of Rush Hour.  The Magnificent 7 and Seven Samurai are intentional mirror images. 

What movies have you seen that really SEEM like remakes of older movies, but aren't official or purposeful remakes?

I'm not sure if it was intended to be a remake or not, but Meet Joe Black was from the same premise as Death Takes a Holiday. I liked both movies but they were two very different movies.
