Welcome back from sunny Fla.- I have read this one and now need to get the older ones. His books are good. Also I do like J.A. Jance - I have a couple in my stack to be read - she is easy read and feels good when done with the book - what more do we need. Looking forward to many more good books next year. Yeaaa.
It has been a discouraging reading month - I keep buying (Audible), but I can't get into anything. However, UNBROKEN was amazing - didn't want to get out of the car in the morning to go to work. Saw the movie yesterday -- book was much better! So, if you only have time to do one or the other, read the book. Orphan Train was good, but lost interest at the end. I read but did not care for: Gray Mountain (what a bummer from a great author), Leaving Time (interesting on elephants but found the content boring) I am currently listening to The Quiet Game by Greg Iles and might get through this one. Others I have moved to the back burner (some new, some old) -- Edge of Etermity, Things that Matter by Krauthammer (can only read when I'm wide awake), The Burning Room, Mean Streak, Patriot Games, Poisonwood Bible. I'm hoping the new year will be more inspiring. I think Jance has a new one coming out and I'm looking forward to it.
Just finished Hounded by David Rosenfelt... one of the best I've read this year... intricate plot, witty dialog, likable characters and a heartwarming ending... perfect!
It will be hard to find one to follow such an enjoyable book. Highly recommended.
I have read an even dozen of Rosenfelt's books and have loved them all. I just noticed that Hounded is not one of them. However, it will be going on my "hold" list at the library immediately.
I'm finishing up a good read from an British author I have read several times over the years: "A Prisoner of Birth" by Jeffrey Archer. It is a modern day "Count of Monte Cristo" tale where a falsely accused man of murder gets out of prison by taking another man's place. Now approaching 75, Archer has penned a number of best sellers and about 4 or 5 of them are being offered by Amazon for $2.99. Archer has also served time in a British prison, claiming he was falsely accused. I can't imagine a better way to do the research for the story.
Now it's on to "The Burning Room" by Michael Connelly. I have read a number of the Harry Bosch LA based mysteries and I hope this one lives up to past reads.
Everybody have a Happy New Year and I hope all your reads are enjoyable. I will be going through a couple of books on disc on my ride back from Kentucky to Florida at the end of the week. It's been a few days since I've seen the sun. Plans in January include a thee week cruise to Rio. That should keep my Kindle busy.
Ohhh Mandy you make me green eyed with jealousy - January cruise - I will be thinking of you while I sit here in cold Ohio. You hit my reading - I am reading The Burning Room now and loving it and Bosch - cannot wait for the new show with Titus Welliver as Bosch. I also have Prisoner of Birth in my stack to be read. Have a great cruise - do not get seasick or any sick - LOL
Carolyn T. Adrian has a new book - Gun Street Girl coming out in March - something for you to be looking for. Sean Duffy here she comes. LOL Was starting Justice Denied by Jance - discovered I had read it before. Hate it but picked up Connelly in its place now much happy. HAPPY NEW YEAR -good reads to all.
I like J.A. Jance's books too - I'm currently working my way through the J.P. Beaumont series - working a couple in here and there between the new books I keep ordering from my library! The new Alex Cross is waiting for me now. I also just started Anne Lamott's new one - Small Victories.
I've never read J A Jance and am always looking for a new author. I checked her out on fantastic fiction and I see that she has 3 separate series. Which one is most popular and is it important to read them in order as it is in some series?
I'm a couple hundred pages into One Door Away From Heaven by Dean Koontz. I like it fine, just hope it doesn't get weird like some of his tend to get. So far, so good. He certainly has a remarkable vocabulary.
