POWERING UP IN PFLUGERVILLE

PFLUGERVILLE (Austin American-Statesman) – RRE Austin Solar could break ground by the end of the summer on a $230 million, 60-megawatt solar farm that would be able to power all the homes in Pflugerville.
The startup solar energy company, which is backed by NEPC India Ltd. and ReGen Powertech, has won tax breaks from the City of Pflugerville and is near a similar agreement with the Elgin school district. However, it is waiting for tax breaks from Travis County.
The plant would be built on about 600 acres about a dozen miles east of Pflugerville.
According to Angelos Angelou, an Austin-based consultant on the project, RRE would employ about a half-dozen people long term. He said that if the company gets property tax breaks from the county, it will consider headquartering the startup, with about 20 employees, in Austin.
