Life is just too short to forsake chatting with friends or acquaintences or neighbors in the post office or grocery store or bank because the grass needs mowing or the dishes need washing or the dog needs a bath.

Definitely yard work every time. It's what I did today, and I should have been packing. There's plenty of time for housework, some other time!
