long-distance runners are strong

in body and mind

WOW, that is wonderful, Thally! Running long distance is tough! And in a world in which many younger people don't want a two-story house because they have to walk up stairs, hahahaha, running half a marathon is an even greater accomplishment. Please congratulate her for me!

I was a sprinter as a kid, so I don't really know what long-distance running takes; but my Draughn ran long distance and he says it takes a special mindset, drive, and will--not to mention amazing endurance.

your birthday today...
i close my eyes and dream you
as you might have been

your smile still lighting the room...

Oh, the wonderful, unfettered spontaneity and freedom of children!

I heard this song today sung by Perry Como who was one of my parents' favorites and a very nice man. It wrung tears from my heart thinking about my Draughn, my loving father of girls.

he holds her first toy
listening for the key to turn
hearing her first laugh
