TBD on Ning

Suggestions anyone?

Right now take-out Chinese sounds good. Except my favorite place doesn't deliver and I don't want to go out. In the heat. And the rain. And the Tornado warning.

Do you like Chinese food?

Yummmm Quinn....sounds much better than the simple tuna sandwiches I will be making tonight, but add a little lettuce & tomatoe & a tuna sandwich taste pretty good....Put a few Vlassic Stackers on the side..not bad.
Yummy Quinn.....It's gunna be leftover ribs, some fresh coleslaw & french fries for us tonight.
I'm the only one in my family who loves okra. It is sooo good. I think it stems from my childhood fascination with the okra seeds in Campbell's veg soup.
I've had okra twice. Both times it was slimy, which I understand means it wasn't cooked properly. But, I can't get over it so I won't eat it now. YUK
Okra should be fried and then you would like it. I can't stand the slimey stuff either. It also works well in soup.
Mmmm. Fried okra with that yummy cornmeal breading. Mmmm. Want some now. Not easy to find for us yankees.
But it is very common here and when you eat it fresh from the garden it is amazing.
Okay, now you guys are making me want to try it again!
They have it at my grocer.
I need a recipe...
It is very simple.
Wash the okra
Cut it into pieces about 1/2 inch long.
while it is wet roll it in cornmeal with a little salt and pepper
heat a pan with about a 1/4 inch of cooking oil
Put the okra in and stir it every now and then until it is golden brown.
eat quickly because it is much better while it is hot.
We went to Jersey Mike's Subs and I had a Club Sub.
Caleb had roast beef and provolone
Chicken in a mushroom sauce w/fresh rosemary & sauteed Vidalia onions; brown rice; sauteed broccoli slaw, also w/Vidalia onions.

We're going to polish it off w/a nice Scotch on the rocks in a few minutes.
We need to wear something to bed, right? Why not a nightcap? '-)

Angel hair pasta tossed with sauteed garlic, vidalia onion, lemon basil and parsley from the garden .............The whole house smelles like garlic.

Sauteed it in olive oil with seasalt and fresh ground pepper and a hint of butter. Simple but the garlic boosts the immune system and along with the olive oil is good for the heart.
