How true; I felt the same way. What does that say about us? We don't care if some kid is floating around dangerously in a balloon but become fascinated by the hoax. Everything gets so hyped up today it takes much more to get us interested. I think if cable news reported Jesus had returned and was sitting in a diner in Western Pennsylvania we'd keep channel surfing.

Funny thing. When the story first broke about a boy lost in a balloon incident, I had no interest at all. When I saw any news report about the story, I'd change the channel. But then, when the story broke that it was all a hoax, I became fascinated. The hoax story, I thought, was much more interesting than the lost boy story.
