I remember Healthcare....See You On Memory Lane!!

I remember being able to go to a dr appointment, hand over my insurance card. Get that checkup I needed. If something was wrong in a test, I remember being able to go to a specialist and hand over my insurance card. I remember if I needed tests done, an mri, xray, bone density tests, etc, handing over my insurance card.
I remember feeling secure in the fact that I had that card! Just like alot of what I remember as good from the past, the past is gone.
Just like the past is gone, so is my insurance and my security. So is my ability to get the care I need. And just like the past is the past, this healthcare access is and will stay that way.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE AND ARE AGAINST HEALTHCARE REFORM. Right back at YOU! Here's to ALL of YOU who will be where I'm at....a SPECIAL WELCOME!! Get used to it, cuz just as all things that were precious to you that are gone, you'll have your memories to hold onto of the great care you used to have...wonder how healthy that will keep you?

Toby,
Yes, even doctors appearing on news channels are telling people to negotiate the price.

I haven't had health coverage for a year. I went to see my ob/gyn for a check up last month and it was $197 for a poke and a prod and a 'how are you doing'...BTW you have high blood pressure and need to see and internist...who said up front it would be around $300 for an office visit. Needless to say, I'm trying to find a clinic that charges on a sliding scale. Oh, I have an eye issue right now that needed immediate attention so I went to my Opthamologist. I asked how much was an office call and was told if I had insurance it was $95...since I was self pay it was $42. Is there something wrong with this picture....beside my achy eye?

Dear Marge I truly am so sorry for anyone without insurance. I was notified this morning that the one place I felt good posting about Health care issues was closed down for good, go figure! I am sorry Marge and yes I know that does not help with health issues or costs. One day it will change Marge, however as you have pointed out so many times, It will then be too late for so many...Blessings, T
