Ever Wonder How Those Who Live Outside US Borders View Americans?

The author of the article of this link follows me on twitter. I thought I'd check out what he writes. Lo and behold, he lays it out in lavender about Americans:

Read Haiku to Hamburg … Then call or write Sharfstein

A message from Charles G Brown, National Counsel, Consumers for Dental Choice:

Our creative friend Marilynn Block of Portland, Ore., wrote this Haiku to Hamburg, which I re-publish in full:

To: margaret.hamburg@fda.hhs.gov

Subject: Haiku for Hamburg

2 Sep 2009

Haiku poems inspired by your actions and conflict of interest in the recent mercury amalgam ruling.

Leaves turn brown, crumble and fall

The wind carries them…

"Empty Promises" (Written for, and dedicated to, Dharma)

"Empty Promises"

Empty promises, that's all I get.

You'd think I was just a pet.

They come, and they just go.

Seems like it's just for show.

So empty promises is all I get.

I'm tired of just being your pet.

So make it happen, or let me go.

Don't make me wait, or go slow.

'Cause empty promises are all I've got.

And all you do is stir the pot.

Empty promises, that''s all I get,

And I'm tired of just being a… Continue

Just another example of how many Republicans have no respect for The Office Of The President, some "Patriots"

People on the right like to claim that they are such Patriots, but last night they exposed themselves for what they are. They tarnished the House Of Representatives.

Many will say it is about the Obama's policies but hey are again making excuses for behavior that has never been witnessed, until a person of color stepped into that office. Their racism is so ingrained and deep, that they can't ever help themselves from letting it bubble up.

I was happy to see the gestures… Continue

I wrote this last year I think

Over yonder...across the sea

Mesha stands in the factory

Spinning the thread & weaving the loom

Tiny child in basket.. alone... in the light of

the moon

14 hrs a day with very little pay

not to mention another baby on the way...while...

here I stand in front of the mirror

designer clothing mean more to me than Mesha

& her family.

Things, more things in my shopping cart

Capitalism my focus, but Iv'e lost my heart

Music Players

There are 2 music players on here (not my doing).....for those who do not know how to turn them off, you can hit the pause button ( the two bars). Wow...what a bunch of racket when both play at the same time.

The Perils of Groupthink for Creative, Independent-Minded People

Groupthink is a type of thought exhibited by group members who try to minimize conflict and reach consensus without critically testing, analyzing, and evaluating ideas. Individual creativity, uniqueness, and independent thinking are lost in the pursuit of group cohesiveness, as are the advantages of reasonable balance in choice and thought that might normally be obtained by making decisions as a group. During groupthink, members of the group avoid promoting viewpoints outside the comfort zone… Continue

The President of the United States Speaks to Students

On November 22, 1902, President Theodore Roosevelt and several members of his cabinet traveled to Philadelphia for the dedication of the newly-constructed Central High School of Philadelphia. The Central High School of Philadelphia had formally opened on October 26, 1838, with a first class of sixty-three students. At the time of its dedication, in 1838, Central was only the second public high school in the country and was open only to male students. In 1902 President Roosevelt spoke first in… Continue

God realization

Dear friends,

Namaste !

Without God realization ....... love , peace , non-violence , human unity / brotherhood etc. is

difficult . Everybody says .. God is one only people call Him by diff. diff. names ... even then we are creating differences because of our ignorance of God knowledge.

So dear friends, 1st get God knowledge then these all differances created by us shall disappear

automatically. This painting shows… Continue

Watch John Stossel's Special ABC News 20/20 Report Exposing the Truth About ObamaCare

President Obama is rushing a massive socialized healthcare plan through Congress -- with a final vote expected in September.

The “ObamaCare” healthcare plan imposes at least $1.5 trillion in new taxes and forces Americans to “hand over” their health care decisions to politicians and bureaucrats. This nationalization of our health care system will cripple businesses and cause a massive increase in government control over our lives. For more on how the so-called “Public Option” is… Continue

Why Didn't I Get Better Grades in School?

One of my former psychiatrists, Stanley R. Palombo, MD, once asked me why I didn't get better grades in school. That was back in the year 1990, while I worked at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, a law firm in DC.

I can now answer Dr. Palombo's question, based on the scientific literature. I came from the type of family that promoted creativity, but one that did not promote academic achievement.

Findings in studies of parenting, education, and training have generally… Continue

The Uncanny Lure of the Phallic Narcissist

In November 1988, a few weeks before Thanksgiving, I went to lunch with two friends, Daniel Cutler and Craig Dye at the Cafe Mozart in downtown DC. Craig said to me: "Gary, you're always welcome to drop by my place. I'm always home. You don't even have to call first. Just stop over."

In August 1989 I attended a firm happy hour at a DC watering hole, Stetson's, in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood. Jesse Raben approached me and offered his congratulations on my being hired as a permanent… Continue

Whatever Happened to Tracy Middendorf's Husband? -- Continued

I once went to dinner with Jesse Raben and Tracy Middendorf's husband, Franz. After dinner we walked back to Jesse Raben's apartment on New Hampshire Avenue. Franz said: "Where did you get that belt?" I said: "At Hecht's." Franz said: "That's a cool belt." I said: "Hecht's is a cool store." Franz smiled.

Jesse said: "I'd invite you up to the apartment, but it's late." I said: "We're friends now, right, Jesse?" Jesse Raben said: "Always, Gar, always."

I recall the line at… Continue

Why don't we care more for the animals?

Our animals are suffering terribly in the warehouses they live in before they become our food. We can do so much better. Animals have feelings....they also feel pain.

We have feelings we call love. What exactly is love? Is love for others, or bottom line...is it really for ourselves? Do we do things for others expressly for others, or do we do things because we need gratitude/affection in return? I know when we give presents to others we let them know who sends them. If we were to do… Continue
