So you were born in K-falls? I moved here with my lady friend for the express purpose of proving to her it was a bad idea. Health care is a nightmare. The weather blows when it's not sucking and the economy, let's just say it's like living in a post holocaust safety zone. Were making plans to leave soon.

There is one (and I think you know which one) that I'd love to comment in, but I feel that it's the better part of valor that I refrain from adding my two cents! Tim I just want to explain somethings I said that you might have misunderstood, I speak in parable like you know who, maybe I am him because everywhere I go they say, "Jesus Christ are you here again." my humble attemp at humor, by smart I meant well rounded, well traveled, well read and well equiped to voice an your opinion. I certainly don't get the impression that your closed minded, but then again Alaska is where I went crazy, in Anchorage, Seward and Cold Bay from 1948 to 1951. My history is long and confusing and probably couldn't be understood by anyone but the people who have gone through the same life style I have, I will tell you that I was ordained at a young age, and now I do not except the New Testament, Jesus was brilliant man, like Plato, Cicero, Omar and many more great thinkers, but Jesus's followers were the poor, weak, sick, lost and hopeless people, not to mention Mary, and what do you gather from this, what conclusion or opinion? to me all churches are cults, sound familiar? all I know is that Science figured out two things that I know of, The parting of the Sea, and the walking on water. does this make me smart? or growing up in Chicago where I'm only street smart? you gave up 40 years of your life, I only wasted 30 years of mine. I'm trying to look into the Old Testament but I can't find anything about Adam's first wife Lilth, so that leaves questions about Cain and Abel. It kind of pushes you to believe in the Big Bang doesn't it. But don't blame yourself for any of your beliefs, where did you get them? and remember, "The world is made for people who aren't cursed with self-awareness." I'm sorry if you only understood my words and not my meaning. I too get mad at people who are proud when they say they're retired and worked at the same place for 40 years. You have that right to get "hot under the collar" and angry at people who have stayed pretty much the same all their lives, no insentive or desire to search for the truth or see how the other person lives, and why they choose that way to live. and wouldn't it be nice to be sure of anything? as some people are sure of everything.
I'm sorry Tim that this is so long, but it helped me remember things and I hope you got something out of this from my 79 years of experience? Sure, we can start a discussion on how open we are to the moon being made of cheese, I live in Wisconsin now and I know the moon is made of cheese, that where we send all our excess cheese, and if you hear the same thing long enough you'll begin to doubt what you believe and begin to wonder, hear it some more and more than you'll have to believe it because everyone does, don't dare be different or you'll be called a non-conformist or sick, anything but a free thinker. But to prove it, The next time you see a Wisconsin Cow jump over the moon, better believe he's dropping off more cheese.

I would really be interested to know the evolution of your belief system. You are obviously a well educated man in religion. You are obviously tolerant of the beliefs of others. Your atheism is an enigma to me. I know it is none of my business. But, I would feel privaleged if you would share the existential events that shaped your beliefs. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

So....What are the metaphysical and philosophical ramifications of celebrating a Western Culture-style birthday, an event in which the person being congratulated and feted actually did absolutely nothing, simply sat like a lump and hitched a ride while the mother did all the actual production, maintenance and "heavy lifting" (as the case may be) ?

(In my case, I always buy my mother a drink. But, since she doesn't drink, I take care of that little detail for her. Good thing my mom is fond of a good single malt Scotch {even though she's never had one}, or there might be some problems. Why does she always have to make everything so difficult? Broads. I'll never figure them out. Hey, THERE's a topic for discussion. Hey, everybody - Tim's just volunteered to lead an abstract and reflective taffy pull on the inherent inferiority of The Fairer Sex compared to the Natural Dynamism of the "Y" Chromo set. Isn't that nice of him on his birthday? You Bet. )

Tim, thx for that new information on the Myers-Brigg Temperament Profile. I reread my ENFP profile again. It defines my temperament accurately:

General: ENFPs are both "idea"-people and "people"-people, who see everyone and everything as part of an often bizarre cosmic whole. They want to both help (at least, their own definition of "help") and be liked and admired by other people, on bo th an individual and a humanitarian level. They are interested in new ideas on principle, but ultimately discard most of them for one reason or another.

RE: The "NOT part".........Someone wrote a post wishing you were feeling better if I remember correctly...so I was just hoping your were well & Not sick as in like a cold or flu or any of those other bothersome illnesses........Through my own recent sickness what I think is truth has become much less important to me...now I consider being nice to my friends the most important thing I can do & I consider you one of my friends........Kathy
