Does anybody know why this Mon. Oct. 5 the banks'll be closed? I googled it & it's not listed as a fed. or state holiday.

  • Syble

Officerripley, I don't know why they would be closed this coming Monday.  The following Monday is a bank holiday (Columbus Day).  I haven't heard of any closings in this area but then I haven't researched it.

  • Aggie

All my banks will be open on Monday.

Officerripley, Oct 12th is Colombus Day so maybe you were thinking of that Monday?

  • PartTimeBrewer

Today, October 7, is Dark Poetry Day, to commemorate the day Edgar Allan Poe died in 1849. "Once upon a midnight dreary,..."

Hi, Jozee, it was actually the bank that told me they wouldn't pay an auto-bill on Mon, 10/5 since that was "a non business day." So I just figured that meant no banks open or mail on that day. But maybe they were mistakenly thinking that was Col. Day. (Although they did wait 'till 10/6 to pay the bill.)

    Oh ok...got it lol!

    Morning Mantra

"Don't let someone dim your light simply because it's shining in their eyes."
    Do your thing.
    Do it unapologetically.
You probably already know what they are going to say or think about it.
You don't have to keep room in your life for people who try to bring you down.
Some people will not like you simply because your strength reminds them of their weakness.
Don't let them affect you and your light.
    Shine bright.

A woman is looking for a Christmas present for her husband. She walks by a pet shop and sees a beautiful parrot. The price is $50.

“Why so little?” she asks. The store manager says, “This bird used to live in a brothel and has a kind of a vulgar mouth.”

The woman decides to buy the parrot anyway. She brings the parrot home and puts his cage near the Christmas tree. First thing the bird says is, “New house, new madam.” She's a little shocked but figures that’s not so bad.

When her two daughters get home from school, the bird sees them and says, “New house, new madam, new girls.” The woman is surprised, but she figures the parrot will straighten out once it figures out who everybody is.

A little while later, the woman’s husband, Frank, comes home from work. As he walks in the door, the bird says: “Hi Frank.”

Remember Mark Kuhn? I don't know what his TBD name was, but I'm sure some of you may remember arguing with him!

We were best buds for many years, chatting on the phone every night. He passed away in his sleep from heart failure on August 11th. I thought y'all would want to know.

  • Syble

Sorry for your loss Lynn.  I didn't know him but I am sad you lost a buddy to chat with.  Condolences. May he RIP

A  continuing dream spaning over 3 years. It was a warning. I told it to go away. Years later when in a real dangerous situation I remembered it and was not killed by a truck tha jumped the curb where I had been previously sanding waiting fot the crosswalk light to change. I was saved by that dream.

  • Jozee

Thank you all for your condolences. I have a long road of healing.
