1 of my cancer docs, when I told her 1 of the other docs had told me 2B sure 2 not put on any weight, so I was therefore cutting back on the coffee, wine & potato chips, took ahold of 1 of my hands in hers, patted my hand & said to me "Oh, do not worry about the wine & coffee & go ahead & eat ur potato chips!  We must enjoy life & live while we can!"  So that's the doc whose orders I'm following, ;-)

A farmer drove to a neighbor's farmhouse and knocked at the door. A boy, about 9, opened the door.

"Is your dad or mom home?" said the farmer.

    "No, they went to town."

"How about your brother, Robert? Is he here?"

"No, he went with Mom and Dad."

The farmer stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to the other, mumbling to himself.

When the young boy says. "I know where all the tools are, if you want to borrow one, or I can give Dad a message."

"Well,"said the farmer uncomfortably, " No, I really want to talk to your Dad, about your brother Robert getting my daughter pregnant".

The boy thought for a moment... then says "you'll have to talk to my Dad about that. I know he charges $500 for the bulls and $50 for the pigs, but I have no idea how much he charges for Robert."

This is a lamp that I had in my antique shop for quite awhile before I could identify the material it is made from. I eventually ended up with two of of them and gave both to my daughter cause she is a lamp nut! Anyway, after I found out what it was, every time someone showed interest, I made them hold it in their hands before I told them that it was made from a dried camel bladder. They were probably made in the 1940's and 50's as a tourist souvenir. Hmmmm, funny, no one ever bought either one. Anyway, I gonna ask my Dr if he can put my bladder in a jar so that I can bring it home, dry it out, and paint it!!!

Friday is getting closer, and I'm just about scared shitless.

  • Karin M Fichtner

Forgive my ignorance, TBD.....what happens Friday?
  • TeeBubbaDee

I have bladder cancer, and Fri. the bladder is being removed. :-(

  • Karin M Fichtner

TBD....i was aware of your struggle with bladder cancer.....but unaware the surgery was this week. I know you are nervous, but I know you are an extremely strong person, and I know you can do this. Aside from your family, who are there to support you...we are here, as well. We all have you in our hearts and minds and.....yes....prayers. Please remember that. I have been praying for you for some time now, and I am a big believer in the power of prayer. It has worked for me for many years, in many ways. You can do this. We'll be waiting to hear from you when you are able. You brighten all our days, and we'll be awaiting your sunshiney personality eagerly. God be with you, friend.
  • LoveLife&Laughter

I know you are going to do just fine TBD. The surgery will be a piece of cake and be over before you know it.  And heal'n won't be bad.  I had open heart surgery last November, and that's how I remember it :0)

  • TeeBubbaDee

Thanks for the well wishes guys!!! This is probably my last post for a couple of days. Love you guys!!!!!

  • imaginethat

Here's hoping all went well TBD!! Take care as you heal and know that LLL and Karin's sentiments below are echoed in all our hearts and minds. TY....May your healing be swift and outcome positive.

  • officerripley

Indeed, TeeBubba; get better (& get back here, lol) soon!

  • TeeBubbaDee

Back home and doing well. Surgery was a bitch. 10 1/2 hours because my surgeon went above and beyond what any other surgeon in the country would have done. Due to my age, physical condition (fat), previous surgeries, and radiation, practically every other surgeon would have slapped an external bag on me and been done. But Dr Sexton went out of his way to give me the internal reservoir I wanted. The surgery was much more risky and complicated, and require a lot more daily maintenance from me. I think it's going to be worth it not to have as bag hanging off my side. I do have a bag now, but it is temporary until my stoma heals up.

  • officerripley

Yay, yay, yay, TBub; so glad you're bk home & doing well; so glad about the surgeon you got too!  :-)
