Chosen Sunflowers

In the south of France

Actually the city of Arles

Vincent eagerly awaits

The models he had hired

But they failed to show.

Perhaps the fierce hot

Wind outside detained them

From their appointed tasks

To keep their appointment

With this future master.

Vincent, improvising all his life,

Walked outside into the wind

Gathered up Sunflowers

Alongside the side of the shed

Housing many earthenware pots.

Back into his humble home

With the creative mixing

Of his few meager paints

He created vibrant colors,

With painstaking patience

Emerged beautiful yellow shades,

Each center a different color tone

Making every seed defined.

This is how a few Sunflowers

Become a beloved painting.

This is just about right now days
My cousins and I were told we could walk the 4 miles square
Do not soap anyone's windows
Do not toss anything in front of cars
Do not knock on a door that had no porch light on

We had lots of fun, never destroyed property, often were asked to come inside to sit at a table to have ice cream or cake while the elder s guessed who we were. One new to us person was a new teacher at our school and he sat us at the table, I think with his parents, while he cooked us hamburgers
We can't allow our youngsters to do these things now things now
I'm sure there must have been nut cases back then but perhaps they were hiding from us ferocious gypsies, bums, scarecrows, sea monsters, cowboys & cowgirls and Indians... we were just a bunch of farm kids enjoying Halloween.

A Story to Chew On

Every Halloween

A trick or treat one

Dressed into their

Imaginative costume

Every Halloween

The goal was fun

Orange or purple hair

Some carried a broom

Every Halloween

Along the fence

The barren tree

Mocked the walk

Every Halloween

Some were tense

Fearing a banshee

Quiet fear to talk

Every Halloween

Gnarled branches

Cracked in wind

Deepening a shadow

Every Halloween

Leaves did dances

Spider webs twined

Moon presented a glow

Every Halloween

We took the trek

Full of spunk

All fear aside

Every Halloween

Often a snow-fleck

Made fear debunk

Walking the countryside

My Angel Do Not Be Sad

My child. Why do you weep?

You are at peace now.

Father I hurt.

My child this is Heaven

there is no pain here.

Father I hurt in my soul.

My angel do not have tears

you are here to shine.

Father I am not worthy.

My child you are perfect.

I made you perfect.

Father I have flaws.

No My cherished child

It was time for you.

Father I left my loves.

My angel they have you

in their hearts forever.

Father I will not see them.

My child yes you will

You will see them every day.

Father I will not touch them.

My child yes you will

this is Heaven above all.

Father I will not see them.

Dear child you will see

your loves forever.

Father I will not hear them.

My child you are new here

you will be able to be with them.

Father my wing feathers fall.

My child each time your loves

see a feather they will feel you.

Father I feel better now.

Yes my child, you will feel the

warmth, the shine you are free.

Father thank you, I am home.

The End Does Not End

The end

of the story

does not end

at the time

It creates

the beginning

of new stories

shared to all

Through many

generations

coming and going

for the future

Life Vs Hashing

Time to go out and

Sail the salty waters

The sum of life is not

A hash over discussion

The talk is in—circles!

Getting us no where!

It's always the same

With little conceding

Filled with overreaction

Not seeing eye to eye

Life is:

Living

Loving

Losing

Laughing

Lingering

Longing

And

Sometime

Letting Go
