Sometimes there are these great lines from a song or a movies that just sticks with you or makes a mark. There is a song out by Ed Sheerin, called Thinking out Loud, it is a song wondering about love lasting as you grow old. At the beginning of the song there is this line " Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love". Every time I hear it, I think wow it is just a great line! I love the song, but something about that particular line.
Anyone have other examples of a great line from a song or movie you like?
i thought you'd never ask .. its jackie lomax . an englishman that had a small cult followin that included the beatles and clapton .. in fact i think some of them are on this song but i can't remember who .. the keyboards will remind you of a whiter shade of pale .. not sure why this was never a hit of some kind cause its a great song on so many levels .. the words and music , the groove , the soulfulness .. in fact percey sledge does a rendition of this thats about as good .. down in good ole muscle shoals .. from apple studios on abby road to muscle shoals alabama .. either way its a great song ..
here's another one with 3 out of 4 beatles and clapton and nicky hopkins on keyboards and jackie lomax on vocals
and here's the great percey sledge ..
i was talking with someone about movies and if you want classic lines, watch The Big Sleep with Humphrey Bogart. Classic lines thruout all the crackling film noir dialogue...
Carmen Sternwood: You're not very tall are you?
Philip Marlowe: Well, I, uh, I try to be.
Philip Marlowe: [after Carmen had thrown herself at him] You ought to wean her, she's old enough.
Philip Marlowe: She tried to sit in my lap while I was standing up.
Female Taxi Driver: If you can use me again sometime, call this number.
Philip Marlowe: Day and night?
Female Taxi Driver: Uh, night's better. I work during the day.
Vivian: Speaking of horses, I like to play them myself. But I like to see them workout a little first, see if they're front runners or comefrom behind, find out what their whole card is, what makes them run.
Marlowe: Find out mine?
Vivian: I think so.
Marlowe: Go ahead.
Vivian: I'd say you don't like to be rated. You like to get out in front, open up a little lead, take a little breather in the backstretch, and then come home free.
Marlowe: You don't like to be rated yourself.
Vivian: I haven't met anyone yet that can do it. Any suggestions?
Marlowe: Well, I can't tell till I've seen you over a distance of ground. You've got a touch of class, but I don't know how, how far you can go.
Vivian: A lot depends on who's in the saddle.
Vivian: I don't like your manners.
Marlowe: And I'm not crazy about yours. I didn't ask to see you. I don't mind if you don't like my manners, I don't like them myself. They are pretty bad. I grieve over them on long winter evenings. I don't mind your ritzing me drinking your lunch out of a bottle. But don't waste your time trying to cross-examine me.
