What Are Grits? Nobody knows. Some folks believe grits are grown on bushes and are harvested by midgets by shaking the bushes after spreading sheets around them. Many people feel that grits are made from ground up bits of white corn.

These are obviously lies spread by Communists and terrorists. Nothing as good as Grits can be made from corn. The most recent research suggests that the mysterious Manna that God rained down upon the Israelites during their time in the Sinai Desert was most likely Grits. Critics disagree, stating that there is no record of biscuits, butter, salt, and red eye gravy raining down from the sky, and that God would not punish his people by forcing them to eat Grits without these key ingredients.

I knew this.....just wanted to make sure d's did....
If grits are served to me in a bowl in a restaurant they immediately get poured onto the plate.
I know a guy in south Carolina who orders a nearly raw fried egg plopped down in the middle of a pile of grits and upon serving proceeds to stir the two together. That's almost blasphemy.
ewwwwwww *shudder*
Did you say, "nothing as good as grits"? hahahahahahahahaha
Grits---blek!!!!
Being fromt the South I am expected to eat grits however I find the texture of the little ground bits of corn to be very unpleasant in my mouth and therefore I do not eat them. Now, sawmill gravy is a whole other thing. It is good on buscuits, potatoes, eggs, sausage, bacon or just eaten alone.
Okay, I'll ask...what the heck is sawmill gravy???

[and people think I'm weird for eating cheese and jelly sandwiches]
What kinda cheese and what kinda jelly?? Might be good.
Sawmill gravy is made from bacon or sausage drippings, flour and water or milk. I prefer water. Maybe a little salt. You brown the flour in the drippings and then add the water or milk and cook until it thickins. They used to make it at sawmills because it was cheap, quick, very filling and easy to make.
Good stuff!!!!
Awwww, Quinn, you've been so deprived, and disillusioned. :=D
ALL gravy is good....a very good thing....forget the meat and veggies. Give me a piece of bread with butter and some gravy.....heaven!
