TBD

TBD on Ning

So here we are looking around, taking a peek... hanging out.

On some thread a bit ago, some one said how annoying the FB was with all the trivial updating goings on.

Personally, I don't think my daily updating is all that interesting but some times I really feel the need to share.  My kitties don't give a whit and the bird...well, he lives in his own world.  His updates would mostly involve "lived another day"..."got some of that shredded stuff again (cheese)"  etc.

Mostly, I have you fine folks to droll on about my meager existence and occasional moments of wonderful.

So, here you go...Keep it brief...mundane with a bit of intrigue.

I don't know why I'm still up.....my body is nicely fatigued, although the old knees are aching a bit.  Today I did yard work for profit for an elderly lady here in the 'hood.  She's reached the realization that she needs to put her house up for sale and move back downstate to be near her family.  She has some physical issues which are now compromising her ability to live alone.  It always sad to see 'em leave like that, a major step toward the ultimate end.

Anyway, I'm gussying up her yard, and its looking really nice, if I do say so myself.  I really enjoy that type of work....me, a couple of rakes and shovels, a tarp and a push broom, and the chance to be right on Lake Michigan and plus get paid.  All I need is a 30 year old body to make it the perfect career.

I started out today by joining the old guys for their monthly breakfast at the casino.  After two or three meals with these guys, I've come to the conclusion that I truly am still nothing but a "Junior Old Guy".  To a man, these old guys can't seem to hear, even though most of them have hearing aids.  The decibal level was deafening at our table...the old guys were just bellering at each other, in conversation!  They also bumble around a lot, getting seated, getting through the buffet line, and especially when paying.  Every one of them, to a man, complained to the cashier about the fact that coffee was now extra.  Each bill came to $6.34.

I can't wait for next month, though.  They are nice guys, and they seem to like having a "young guy" join them.  The old ones have accumulated a lot of life's information along the way.  I mostly like hearing about it.

Oh, and I should mention....there's a group of several of the mean sprited consevatives, from the Brew-Ha, that break fast at the casino on Friday mornings as well.  There were friendly greetings passed around between the rival gangs, and no turf wars broke out.

Wow!  That's some up date ^!  I do like the moniker of "junior old guy".

Would that make me a "junior old hag"?

I always knew Stir rocked. More proof of the same.
I don't know if I rock these days, Kainsworth, but I do roll, with the punches, better than I used to.
"Junior Senior Hottie" might be a more accurate name for you Jaylee.
Uh huh.....
Hahahahaha!  I'll take it!

Well, here I go again....rambling on about my day.  It was absolutely beautiful here on the Leelanau today.

I had a nice breakfast at the greasy spoon...not very many people there, surprisingly.

Then I stopped over to the Brew-Ha.  My buddy Carl stops in there on Sundays, on his way to church.  He likes to push people's buttons....he laughingly tells them he's gonna say a little prayer for them.  Most people laugh about it, but it does serve to creep some folks out, which doesn't phase Carl in the least.  It was a sparse, various crowd there, but very compatible.

On my way back to my place, I stopped at brother Jim's farm market (no, he's no relation to me).  He's usually ranting and raving about different things, mostly relating to local matters, but today he was planting beans, and quite docile.  I could see I wasn't gonna be able to rile him up, so I headed for home.

I did a few chores around the house, dishes not being one of them.  I did swab out the stool with that blue stuff, and changed the litter box (I know, TMI), and did a load of laundry.  I brought my outdoor plants down from the attic and placed them outside, and trimmed the dead stuff out of them, watered and fertilized them, and artistically arranged them on the front patio.

The day lillies are really taking off now, and hostas are starting to poke up...that's about the only things I can get to grow around here.  Oh, I have some trillium as well, but they hardly ever bloom, and this looks like another barren year for them.

I decided to take a bike ride out to the lighthouse...it was so great outside....not much traffic yet to share the road with.  I jawed a little with the head park ranger, but he was already stressed out, and the season hasn't really even started yet.

I've taken a lot of pics of the lighthouse in the past, but today I concentrated only on the various stone accessories around there....planters, herb garden, steps, and the bird house, which did not fare well this past winter.  I don't know if it can be saved...it split apart close to the base.  After sixty or so years of braving the elements all year, it was showing signs of neglect.  They started covering it during the winter a few years ago, but it might have been too little too late.

Several times throughout the day I went online to the sites I frequent.   I was doing that very thing when I got hungry around 6PM, so I decided to make some supper/dinner.  Then I got a call from Mrs T, my old teacher from high school downstate, who has a place down the street, wondering if I wanted to join her and her dog on a stroll around the neighborhood.  I stopped the dinner prep and we did just that.  It had cooled down quite a bit in a short amount of time, I was glad I had donned a sweater.

Once again back home, I scrapped the cooking idea and warmed up some pizza instead, spent more time on the 'puter while watching reruns of "Swamp People", and then might have dozed a little in the recliner.

It was lightning, thundering and raining for awhile here this evening, but its pretty quiet now.  I think I'll call it a day and turn in.

I worked 9 hours today. It was 90 degrees in the shade with 80% humidity this afternon while I was outside applying fire ant killer to the hundreds of fire ant mounds. Always something exciting going on here in East Texas.
Hey....Fl. is no different...between the bugs, the heat & the humidity a person (like me) could almost be enticed to leave Fl. if her rent wasn't so dang cheap, so Hey...I'm stuck for good rent, plus the beauty of the old oaks around here which bring a sense of serenity & peace when everything else fails.....That says a lot for a place....I might just stay a while longer.

Well, thank you, DD.  Thats very kind of you.

Sometimes writing about a day of normal occurances just seems like the thing to do.

(((((DD)))))  (I think that means "hugs" in computerese)

I agree w/DD, Stir. I enjoy hearing about your day.
