<p>My first encounter with "A Christmas Carol" was in the fourth grade, where we played the parts of the story as a teaching in morals. I have also seen a lot of Scrooges in my life. I am reminded of a quote from the Gospel of Mark that states: "<span id="en-KJV-24537" class="text Mark-8-36">For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?</span>'</p>
