Starting to get my groove back...It's amazing how rusty you can get after just a few weeks off..

Sorry that the Dinosaur Jr e.p. didn't get played...Things got hectic at the last second. And I'll definitely play that Wilco b-side next week..
Comment by Ubu on August 2, 2009 at 7:40pm
Aw, man. Look what I missed. You play a Book of Knots and follow it up with Rocket from the Tombs? Twilight Singers and one from Nick's latest? Dang. Not to mention I probably missed some crazy covers.

Sorry, Ladies...This Dinosaur Jr pulled ahead at the last second with the win. Democracy is the name of the game, after all...But, I will play an unreleased b-side off of the single of "You Never Know" when this is over, just fer you two...

Now, all of you watch your goddam manners - I've got a guest coming in tonight, a co-worker who's expressed an interest in trying out for a slot at the station, and we're going to test the cut of his jib, by cracky. He's a naive young fool, but his taste ain't at all shabby, and he's bringing in a cross sampling of what he'd like to expose all of you to - Including a dangling participle or two - and we're all going to be on our most gracious behavior, aren't we? You Bet.

By the way - Nominees for A of the W:

the new Dinosaur Jr, "Farm";

We'll give that new Wilco another chance;

the Pixies, "Live at the BBC";

My guest is bringing in the new Clutch album, and I suspect he'll learn a harsh lesson about stringent democracy in the process;

And the Mystery Album - Which I may just play anyway, along with whatever gets voted in.

I'm thinking that the Black Hole Sun cover may very well be the most subdued tune I've heard you play. I enjoyed it along with many others. The Los Lobos song stood out.

Show theme? Your call.

Well, well...Looky Here:

This is close to the Twilight Singer's version...

Okay. As I'm always trying to come up with new ideas for the show, here's one that just popped into my head: Should I let you guys in on what *may* be the next week's themes, or do you prefer to be surprised?
It's one thing to let you know in advance - Then folks like Ubu and Aggie can have some fun trying to anticipate what songs I might play. (Which would, of course, only make me try harder to come up with something really outta Left Field..) It's quite another for me to just go zooming off on a tangent and let you figure out just what the hell I'm driving at....
