TBD on Ning

Some of you know me from the old tbd. I have talked about my sister's illness' in the past. She has MS and Parkinson's. Now they've found she has a rare degenerative disc disease. She has 9 disc in her spine that are really dissolving.
She now spends most of her time on a special board, not able to move for fear she could move wrong and become paralyzed.
She gets Medicare, but, and this is not new to the system, it has to be changed, she "makes" too much money from her disability to qualify for fulltime care at home. She cannot afford it herself and they want her in assistant living, which she cannot afford and does not want to go.
We now live in a condo complex,on the top floor. So, I don't know if the answer would be here. Especially since my husband works out of the house.
All my siblings are having health and/or $$ issues. This is very hard. I am going to see her this week. I planned last week, but my youngest daughter is pregnant and had started labor too early, they were able to stop it.
Having seen all she's already been through, it breaks my heart. There may be a non surgical procedure they can do.
If not, this does not mean she won't be able to walk(she hardly can now) It means her becoming paralyzed.
I just ask for positive thoughts and prayers. Thanks

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. It's especially hard when you feel so helpless. Krisit and Pru have given some very helpful suggestions and I hope these will help you and your sister.

Dear Hey You,

My mother has M.S. and had a stroke last February and basically she is now paralyzed. She is lucky to have a wonderful husband to take care of her. We, too were told to send her to a Nursing home but I know my mother would not make it since the Stroke took her ability to speak properly away and she is on a feeding tube and requires suction. My daughter, my sister and me come in and help my dad out with my mom...and they make more than $1500 but not quite much more.

I was wondering have you tried to contact the M.S. Society. If you write this same letter just maybe someone will help out. Does your sister have an extra room in her house. Maybe exchange for a room in return she can get help around the house?

See if any of those options work as well as a financial advisor...I understand how you feel. Good luck and keep us posted.
