EMPLOYERS

Over the weekend I was approached by one of the neighboring hotel to see if I would be interested in accepting a position. I told them I was always open to change, and I have been with the same chain for over 10 years, and the hotel has been sold in the last year. With new owners always comes change, some good, and some hard to understand. I get along well with the 3 guys that own the place and there was no meeting schedule until after christmas. (they do not live in this state) Today I drive… Continue

ON THE ROAD AGAIN 13

We (Happy and I)are at the Escapees "Rainbow Plantation" at Summerdale Alabama. Listening to the aftermath of Alabama vs. Florida game. Alabama just beat Florida for the SEC championship and will now play in the National Championship game.

We are under a "Hard Freeze" warning tonight. Hope my propane holds out. I have light bulbs in the water compartment. That should keep my water pipeing from freezing tonight. I can hear the Canadians laughing all the way down here.

This morning I… Continue

Virginia

I live in a part of Virginia that did at one time get lots of snow. Now with the changing of times it has changed to where we get less than a ft a year. I am getting ready to go out the door and it is 34 degees and we have more than 6inches on snow on the ground. I look outside on the old Webber grill that has been sitting there for years and the stack is so high it is falling off the peak. I bought a new barn building last December and I think it has not been snowed on. I sit here and I wonder… Continue

ON THE ROAD AGAIN 12

After two days at the Lafayette/Breaux Bridge area including a great visit with my friend Kathy and her friend Mark and brother Trevor, I decided that it was time to get moving. Thursday was just another day on the road and I made it to the FamCamp at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. This morning I went to the Seebee Base in Gulfport and got a vehicle sticker for the RV. Then back to Keesler. Hooked up the TOWD and started East. I decided to drive scenic Hwy 90 for awhile instead of immediately… Continue

America's Great Leap Forward

Those who ignore the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them.

When Barack Obama was campaigning for president in 2007, his backers frequently compared him to former president John F. Kennedy. After a year in office, however, President Obama's words and actions align more closely with China's despotic Chairman Mao than with JFK's.

When Mao Tse Tung conquered China in 1949, his secret goal was to dominate the world. When Obama was elected President, many started… Continue

My Hero of Common Sense.

My Hero of Common Sense.

Can you answer this riddle?

Here is a pretty neat little thing from Paul Harvey.

See if you can guess the riddle at the end.

Paul Harvey Writes:

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse.

For my grandchildren, I'd like better.

I'd really… Continue

ON THE ROAD AGAIN 11

A scrumptious meal of Gumbo

It was still raining this morning so I decided to stay at the Lafayette KOA for another day. The rain stopped by nine am and I took Happy out for the second time this morning. It was reasonably warm, so we walked all around the KOA site. It is pretty large and has a lake that is at least 5 acres. I washed both couch covers and did a few other housekeeping chores. Yes, you can never get away from those. Kathy… Continue

ON THE ROAD AGAIN 10

This eve we are at the Lafayette, LA KOA. It is really located at Scott, LA, Exit 97 off I-10. But since nobody outside of Scott knows where Scott is, they call it the Lafayette KOA. Look it up on Google.

When the weather is nice this is a really great campground. As a matter of fact, When the weather is very unnice (Notice I didn't say shitty. Aren't you proud to be associated with such a nice clean living young man?) it still is a very nice campground. It has concrete pull thru sites.… Continue

ON THE ROAD AGAIN 9

Well I'm not actually on the road again, yet. I was going to be tomorrow but, when I had the jeep modified to tow behind the RV, the shop got in a hurry putting it back together and didn't. I did not know this until Fri. They finished it about an hour after the shop's normal closing time Wed. I picked it up and noticed on the way back to the RV park that the left turn signal wasn't acting right. Sure enough, when I got back to the site and checked it the left front turn signal wasn't working.… Continue
