DISTURB

That’s right, DISTURB. What? That isn’t clear? Well of course it isn’t, and you can’t really do much with it now can ya. No you can’t. But if you notice the status line it says DO NOT and really, I’m not even kidding.

NOT

EVEN

KIDDING

I said.

It isn’t even very clever is it, but that’s how they do. Half a line here, half a line there, and then there’s someone cutting in just to embellish…

Adios, Native Americans?!?

I can't shake the feeling that our community has lost both a valuable resource and a place of safe harbor—a place of recognition, with the disappearance of the Native American group. The community feels somehow less diverse. That's a shame. Although I didn't subscribe to every comment or post I read there, I did feel grateful to have such a place to connect with others of Native heritage and those non-Natives who were interested in the cultures of First Nations people.

I have never… Continue

All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth.

What do you guys and girls want for Christmas this year?, and what do you want to give to the world, or your kids, or whoever?

I want to get myself some tennies....Sketchers has some out that are good for firming calf's and correcting posture etc. They have a sort of rounded sole with extra cushioning. Sports authority has a great coupon...Anyway...That's all I want. Then I will give to World Wildlife Fund this year. I am making a hand fringed shawl for my Dads wife, & homemade… Continue

The telephone game

Remember the old game we used to play in school called telephone. It is a game used to teach children about gossip and how it can hurt people. The children all sit around in a circle and one is picked to start the ball rolling. The teacher whispers something in the child's ear, and she in turn whispers what the teacher said into the ear of the next child, and on it goes all the way around the circle. By the time it reaches the last person in the circle , that student says out loud what was said… Continue

Ginger Update

Weeks passed since the storm rumbled through and Ginger entered our lives soaked to the skin, wounded, and bleeding. The vet did the blood work making sure the kitten did not have feline leukemia or aids so it could stay with us and not put our other elderly kitties in jeopardy. Ginger snuggled in quite nicely in the cat carrier in my mediation room. We put a baby gat on the door so the other cats could jump in if they wanted to visit but the kitten could not get out, thus keeping it somewhat… Continue

Ginger Ten~ten

Earlier this summer, after a terrible thunderstorm ended we heard the sounds of a distressed cry. It was nearly midnight and Steve and I had not yet gone to bed as we were enjoying the cool calm the storm had brought when it left. The sounds was nearly lost in the sounds of the frogs melody down by the creek but it was there, high pitched and frantic. I heard it first and asked Steve to shush so I could be sure. Then he heard it too. It was the… Continue

Mali Teaches

Mali is my ISSR Shiloh Shepherd. I came today to try once again to put into words some of what I see when I watch Mali teach. I have tried to write before about but what she does but is so subtle it is hard to define and if you are not watching her, you could miss it happening.

When we first got her Steve and I decided we wanted to make sure she had lots of confidence as she was an only pup and was going to be taking on the big… Continue

Responsible Dog Breeders

This is a subject NEAR AND DEAR to the hearts of all responsible dog breeders. To begin, with breeding is not for everyone. Just because you have, a dog does Not mean it Should be bred and most should NOT be bred; especially with our GIANT breeds. (I breed giants)

There are many aspects of breeding dogs, the average person does not know. Learning takes years of studying to become a GREAT breeder and it takes a GREAT mentor to help facilitate this process. Knowing exactly what you are… Continue

Mali and the Monster

Every night Steve and I take Mali to the green way. The green way is a 17-mile walking park. In between the trails, we walk and the return course there is a large field and today there were tractors racking and bailing hay. Mali loves going to go to the green way. She has many friends there, who often walk with us in a pack as we travel our three-mile route. One day when Mali was 7 months old, no one from the pack was on the Green Way with us, it was just Mali, Steve, and I in my wheel chair;… Continue

ISSR SHILOH SHEPHERDS

I had wanted to have another dog for many years. I wanted a dog which would be loyal, easy to train, intelligent, a watch dog not a guard dog, impressive in mind and body. One day I stumbled across a picture of a Shiloh Shepherd. I could not stop looking at the picture. It featured a group of shepherds who were eye popping to look at. Some of them were shorthaired or what I later learned is called smooth coated, and some of them were long haired, or plush if you will.

The plush… Continue

"ON THE ROAD AGAIN" POST 6

Well it has been a while since I've posted, so I guess it is about time.

We've been having really nice weather here in East Texas, or if you are a west Texan, East Louisiana.

Been here two weeks and two days. This is the Headquarters of the Escapees RV Club. It is more than just a nice RV park. Escapees has over 60,00 members and over 30,000 are active. Many are full timers. If any of you readers think you might… Continue

I can't recognize my old friends and they can't recognize me...

I officially launched Snabbo, a Social Network Allowing Baby Boomers Only, on September 9, 2009. Since I kept this idea pretty well under wraps for the entire 3 years of its development, it invariably came as a surprise to my friends when they received an invitation to test the site. Many expressed curiosity as to why I did this. I decided to take a stab at blogging about the experience. I hope to document this process from the genesis of the Snabbo idea, through the development phase and into… Continue
