My spider sage asked if I was the weaver of my own life experience, or if I was letting my life weave circles around me (and consequently allow myself to be consumed by the process of living).
Happiness (Is an Attitude)
The 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window.
"I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
"Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room .... just wait."
"That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied.
"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how I arrange my mind.
I already decided to love it ... It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away ... just for this time in my life."
Happiness is truly an attitude. I am by far not 92, however my body is packed with illness, and some wait for me to hurry up and pass. I have had to learn to take each day as it comes. I am truly thankful for each day that I live, each day that I have a new opportunity to share, learn and be among family and friends.
It is something that you either choose or you live in misery, Life to me is too precious to do that, to not be thankful for life is to spit in the face of he who gave it.
As for those who are anxious for their life or mine to pass, Talk to God, it is He who direct the end of this journey, not I.
O God, we are one with you. You have made us one with you. You have taught us that if we are open to one another, you dwell in us. Help us to preserve this openness and to fight for it with all our hearts. Help us to realize that there can be no understanding where there is mutual rejection. O God, in accepting one another wholeheartedly, fully, completely, we accept you, and we thank you, and we adore you, and we love you with our whole being, because our being is your being, our spirit is rooted in your spirit. Fill us then with love, and let us be bound together with love as we go our diverse ways, united in this one spirit which makes you present in the world, and which makes you witness to the ultimate reality that is love. Love has overcome. Love is victorious.
The good you find in others, is in you too.
The faults you find in others, are your faults as well.
After all, to recognize something you must know it.
The possibilities you see in others, are possible for you as well. The beauty you see around you, is your beauty. The world around you is a reflection, a mirror showing you the person you are.
To change your world, you must change yourself. To blame and complain will only make matters worse. Whatever you care about, is your responsibility. What you see in others, shows you yourself.
See the best in others, and you will be your best. Give to others, and you give to yourself. Appreciate beauty, and you will be beautiful. Admire creativity, and you will be creative.
Love, and you will be loved. Seek to understand, and you will be understood. Listen, and your voice will be heard. Teach, and you will learn.
Everything depends on what is in our hearts. If we decide to ourselves that something is impossible, then, consistent with our minds in thinking so, even something that is possible for us will become impossible. On the other hand, if we have the confidence that we can definitely do something, then we are already one step closer to achieving it in reality.
so.... recently I have returned after a year long battle with depression where many of you helped me survive... For months I hid in an alter ego... I was beaten down, lonely and had nothing going for me but my faith... and you... it carried me through....
There have bee a few judgmental comments about my activities on another community but that is to be expected. But this is my haven my safe place...
Then tonight as I chose to venture out again the first thing I find is a comment left on my page criticizing me for starting this group and then abandoning it......
I guess I felt that the whole point was for this to be self perpetuating and would not need maintained. I have never know TBDers reluctant to speak their minds or hearts
so... when I feel up to it i will start posting again....
i would remind those of you who do not know me that there are short devotionals available on youtube where i would welcome your feedback.....
Faith is everything KC, so you have it all. :) Faith in the Universe, in Yourself, in Humanity, in Love, in the people whose lives you've touched. I am glad to see you back and I still Love you too. I've had to take several breaks from the Brigade too but a few good peeps do keep it going in my absence. Please keep in touch. Sending you Love and Light ~ All Ways ~ Raven
Taking a step back and seeing how big the universe is, is a big step to having some perspective. Everybody needs to lighten up. CelticKC, do what you do. Do what you have to do. Others cannot second guess you. Most here are on a spiritual path. Perhaps they will catch up with you eventually.
May today be all you need it to be.
May the peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in your thoughts, rule in your dreams, and conquer all your fears.
May God manifest himself today in ways you have never experienced.
May your joys be fulfilled, your dreams be closer, and your prayers be answered.
I pray that faith enters a new height for you.
I pray that your territory is enlarged.
I pray for peace, healing, health, happiness, prosperity, joy, and true and undying love for God.
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
In the spirit of peace, gratitude, love and abundance of all we need to come to know, accept and understand to grow us to a place of higher service in the New Year,
OC
There are pearls in the deep sea, but one must hazard all to find them. If diving once does not bring you pearls, you need not therefore conclude that the sea is without them. Dive again and again. You are sure to be rewarded in the end. So is it with the finding of the Lord in this world. If your first attempt proves fruitless, do not lose heart. Persevere in your efforts. You are sure to realise Him at last. ~Ramakrishna Paramhans
Every once in a while I repost the following saying. It came to me one day while I was contemplating how things that seem ethereal or non-substantial can exert more force than anticipated. AS LIGHT CAN BEND A TREE, SO ENLIGHTENMENT CAN BEND THE WORLD.

Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Love your neighbor as much as yourself.

Once upon an ancient time
All was curious chaos with rhythm and rhyme.
It started out as ONE, a point,
And energetically got out of joint.
Something separated the light from dark.
After all where do you go when you are a quark.
Things bumped and jostled for a long long tick
And then cooled off enough to stick.
We all know that this took awhile
And now we can kick back and smile.
Thus Creation came in a kit.
Now what the heck do we do with it?

and so thanks to Steven for encouraging us along
to his very poetic lines towards the aim of survival
perhaps this could be the beginning of a relevant revival.
With thanks Steven Willy Rachlin.
