What the heck is Windows 8, anyway???

If you have a Windows PC, a Mac, or a Chromebook (I'm looking at you, Google!) then you can always learn new tricks!  Internet problems?  Router not working? Can't print for nuthin'?  Need help on software?  Is Windows 7 better than XP?  Is Linux a viable alternative?

When to use "Discussion" vs. "Comment"

Hey everyone, if you are posting here for advice, or with a problem, you should post it in the Discussion Forum so members can reply.  The Comments Wall section is for "quick hit" types of commentary or perhaps a YouTube link that's a one-off type of thing.

Additionally, the Discussion Forum is the place for asking for advice or opinions on PC vs. Mac, or Laptop vs. Desktop, or any topic that's looking for feedback.

The Comments Wall is really not meant for "conversations", where ideas and/or solutions can be worked out by several members.

Thank you, everyone, for the comments.

This is a new group, and has 32 members.  Back at the Site-that-shall-not-be-named, there were more than 1,000 members of CT&I and about 30 to 50 people who were actively posting.  The 95% - 5% rule applies here as it did at the other site.. In a group with less than 50 members, less than 3 people will post anything with any regularity.

If you have a question, though, please do not post it as a comment for obvious reasons.  Only if it's a "discussion"  can it get proper coverage.

Finally, I may be the creator of this group, but by no means should I be the sole source of information and technical updates.  If you know of something that's interesting, please, by all means create a discussion about it.

thanks

Pete

It wasn't the same at the last group either!

The same people who asked the questions there are here..............!

Just a wild guess, but it seemed to me that Eons had a special makeup of users where you had a number of seniors whose use and familiarity with computers was quite limited, hence you got the questions of how to update drivers, why is my printer not printing, etc ..

Still I also was expecting to get the usual questions about which firewalls are best and what tools do you use to protect your system. But I see none of that here.

To begin with, I said Eons ago. And I am well aware of where I am. There is no reason it cannot be the same as many of the same people are here.
