TBD on Ning

For whatever reason your world has been unexoectedly turned upside down, never to be the same again.

You must sort through ALL your possessions, pictures, keepsakes, tools, kitchen stuff, clothes, books.....every tangible thing that has defined your life to the world and vacate your residence in two days.

The boxes are of finite sizes.......you can't keep everything.....say two boxes that would fit in the back of a six foot bed pick-up. Where do you start...what would you keep...what's really important?

That is really awesome, Quinn. I lived in big houses for a decade or so, w/lots of stuff. And then I inherited more stuff. And it became unmanageable. I loved those homes, and the way they were lovingly furnished & decorated, but I'm in a different place in my life now. The space we're living in now is literally half the size (actually a bit less than half the size) of the homes Ducatiman & I each moved from in recent years. And it suits us just fine. In fact, we like it. We are committed to living a clutter free lifestyle and are prepared to pare down even more. I think it's a trend in these economic times. It's very neat that you were on the bandwagon long before it became a necessary lifestyle change for many of us.

Wise women.

so.... what about furniture? We're just talking 'stuff' but not furniture, is that correct? Will we be homeless & furnitureless & bedless w/our 2 boxes?

I think a small tent would fit in one of the boxes.

"Stuff" as it is doesn't include furniture and a bed.

I would keep Caleb, Beau and one vehicle and money for gas.

Me, my Sweetie, and at least one of the cats will fit just fine in the front seat of the pickup. (OK, I'd probably make room for the cat my daughter dumped on us, but she might have to ride in the back)

I'm with Steve Martin on this.

That's All I Need

I'm all I need.

Well, I'm learning that it's okay to be needed for the right reasons.

And it's okay to need for the right reasons.

Yes, it is, Jaylee. On both counts!

No man (or woman) is an island.

And I'VE been learning that INTERDEPENDENCE is far better than the INDEPENDENCE I've held onto so fiercely all my life. Hence my choice of "d's girl" on tbd v2.0. That was a biiiiiig step for me. But I smile every time I see it, or am called it. '-)

I was so independent in my marriage that my ex-husband - many, many times, & correctly so - would tell me that I forgot that I had a partner. I even made career decisions w/out consulting him once, and was surprised & had to catch up when he took issue w/this. :-P

...I don't want to take that kind of independence in my boxes w/me. I think I'll leave that behind as I pare down. ;-)
