TBD

TBD on Ning

It's been a quirky year weatherwise.  We don't have a large yard because we have a townhome in a sort of duplex situation.  Our yard is separate from our neighbors so we maintain it ourselves (not very well).

Our weather has been hotter than usual but we're getting some rain and I noticed on the news that some places are in drought while others are flooding.

Our yard is looking okay, but I haven't been out working in it much.  I put in some marigolds which look a little bit lonely with nothing else around them.  The grass is finally looking greener and we have mowed, but not very often.

Have you done anything special to your yard this year?

My

All my plants, palms, cacti, pineapples, shrubs, and that viney thing all look great. The grass, not so much. We are under water restrictions, and I do water the plants when needed (on the allowed days and during the allowed hours) but I don't water the lawn. It looks about a hundred times better than it did when we moved in almost four years ago. It is fairly green, but kinda "weedy", and there are some bare patches where Verizon dug up the yard a while back.

toast...no butter.

I have one of thse green grassy looking rug things that Home Depot sells. I nail it down in front of the steps going into the RV. It looks pretty good. The workampers take care (not very much) of the grass.

Jaylee53, I hope you guys get some wet stuff soon.  Your flamingos must be miserable.

Colin keeps saying he's going to cement the whole thing in.  I have these visions of what I would like the yard to look like, but I can't get myself out there to plant anything.  I think it has potential, but if I woke up one morning and it was all concrete I wouldn't really care.

I'd go shopping for patio furniture.

There are 2 houses just a few blocks from our place. They are about a half block apart. The first one has no grass, but plants, trees, and shrubs everywhere. The place is so overgrown, you can barely see the house. The other place has a huge front yard that is covered with astro turf.

Seriously?  That sounds tacky.  How does it look?

In AZ many yards consist of quartz type gravel that is stained green. Looks just as good as grass.

Slim, It looks just like it sounds. Tacky is probably the nicest thing you can say about it.

It is quality stuff, and i'm sure it cost a ton but...

Xeriscaping is the way to go.
