i betcha it was a ploy..one of them shurefire gimmicks...."c'mon back to my motel room, hunny, and i'll let you pet my snake"
On Thursday, 40 pythons, described as being in a “distressed” condition, were rescued from a motel room in Brantford, Canada.
Police found the ball pythons in plastic storage bins and quickly called the SPCA after noting that the animals were nor properly cared for, reports Reuters.
“We popped the lids of the containers and saw a mass of snake,” said animal cruelty investigator Brandon James. “They were all entangled. They were in distress because of the overcrowding.”
The 40 pythons in the motel room were of a non-venomous species which hails from Africa. They can grow up to 4 1/2 feet in length, and is the smallest of the African pythons. It is also a popular pet snake due to its relatively docile temperament.
However, it’s illegal to own a python in Brantford. James believes that the snakes were being gathered for sale elsewhere, as there’s a big demand for mature ball pythons.

Yea, everyone wants one of those. Yea, pythons on the right of me, to the south of me, next thing you know those Minnesotans will be stocking up on them. When I studied biology and psychology back in the day, I was told primates including humans have in general at least an innate fear of snakes. So I am guessing the people that buy them to live with them do so for:
a) Rodent problems
b) Want neighbors to think you are weird so they stay away
c) Noisy ankle biting Shih Tzu next door
d) Fill in blank
I hate when people are neglectful of animals or abusive to animals. It is my weakest emotional bridge to cross. I can deal with a lot, but not that. Can't watch it, can't work at an animal shelter. Poor snakes.

A puppy nicknamed Richard Parker was saved from the San Francisco Bay.On Monday evening, a group of windsurfers found a giant black puppy struggling far from shore in the San Francisco Bay.
Adam Cohen, who was boating home from San Francisco to Berkeley, saw the group with their sails down and motored over to see if they needed help. That's when he saw a puppy on one of the boards. "I can't figure out where she came from," said Cohen. "She was in the middle of nowhere."
Despite the wind and rough waters, the group managed to get the exhausted, shaking dog on board the boat to bring her to shore. Cohen brought the pup home and spent hours warming her up with his wife's help. They're still trying to find the owner of the dog, who they've nicknamed Richard Parker after the tiger on the boat in Life of Pi. But they're committed to ensuring she has a good home.
Aww. Sweet puppy. I wonder what it thought out there in the ocean all by itself, poor thing.
Nice people. Lucky dawg!
My son had one when he was in college. He's wanted one since he was a kid. He caught a pregnant garter snake that chose to have her babies in my living room window during the Saturday morning cartoons. He had a boa, too. He sold them both to raise money to get married. I'm glad. I don't think I'd be living with him if he still had them. I don't like snakes.....but that doesn't mean I approve of mistreating them.
I'm sorry the snakes were injured or destressed however I would not want to have one or know that a neighbor had one.
Nice story about the dog rescue, I hope they find a home for her.
well down here in florida we have a big problem with them snakes that look so cute when they're babies and then grow to be 20 feet long and they wanna eat your cat or your dog or your kids or you .. and then they ain't so cute anymore so they let them go in the everglades and now they're eatin the alligators .. so now every year they have an annual snake hunt to see how many they can catch and kill cause they don't belong here and they're eatin everything they can , birds , frogs , turtles , you name it .. we're havin the same problem here in cape coral with the monitor lizards .. cape coral has more canals than venice italy and them monitors love it there .. they estimate there are now thousands of them there and they've spread as far north as port charlotte .. at the rate they're goin they'll make the tampa area in another few years if they haven't already .. i'd just like to know who's bright idea it was to allow them here to start with .. i mean did it not occur to them these snakes are gonna get to be 20 feet long ?? or these monotor lizards are gonna get to be 6 feet long and not all that friendly .. come on where do you keep a 6 foot long monitor lizard that wants to eat you now ?? its like the guy who kept a tiger in his apartment cause it was so cute when it was little and he raised it till it was full grown .. in his fucken apartment ?? and then one day the tiger when apeshit and attacked him .. when the neighbors heard the commotion they called the police and the police broke down the door and saw the guy layin there with his arm almost torn off bleedin like crazy and the guy was beggin em not to kill his tiger .. the cops thought he was delirious til out of the corner of their eye they saw the tiger and they slammed the door shut .. then they decided they would put a sniper out the window and shoot the tiger with a dart to tranquilize him .. so up in a bucket truck next to the window went the swat guy and the tiger saw him and lunged at the bucket truck from inside the apt and the swat guy almost fell outta the truck .. almost had a heart attack thinkin that tiger was gonna jump out at him . i'm sure he had a load to clean outta his pants , cause first you say it then you do it .. anyway they eventually tranquilized the tiger and took him to the zoo . took the guy to the hospital and sewed his arm back on .. what makes people do this stupid kinda shit ?? its a fucken tiger .. not a house cat .. last i heard the guy was tryin to get his tiger back .. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.. why why why ?? he said the tiger was the only one to ever understand him .. really ?? i mean really ?? wow was that poor fuckhead misunderstood is all i can say .. they're called wild animals for a reason ..
... he said the tiger was the only one to ever understand him .. really ?? i mean really ?? wow was that poor fuckhead misunderstood is all i can say .. ~~Frenchy
