Sounds good to me, crest.  :-)

The big, green tree in the middle of winter, I can just picture the faeries dancing around it, in a dance for spring.

HOPE for spring and renewal in the dead of winter.  It too was a fertility festival.  The tree was a phallic symbol, lol.

My first Easter here in VA, my son knew how I'd miss our family traditional Easter practices.....egg-dying being a big part of it.......so he bought some dye and he and his Buddhist wife (who had never dyed an egg in her life!) sat with me and we dyed eggs together.  I thought that was sweet of him.  He even gave me a basket with candy and a stuffed bunny in it. (I gave the bunny to my dog)  It is so hard for me to get used to living so far away from the family members who celebrate Holidays.  My son doesn't celebrate anything.....as a rule.  It's hard for me to feel celebratory when I'm doing it all by myself.

Last year, I had to go up north to help out my #3 granddaughter after she had shoulder surgery, and I was up there for Easter.  We bought 4 dozen eggs and three different types of dye, and I spent an hour dying and decorating Easter Eggs with my great grandchildren.  They weren't happy until they had made one for each and every member of the family.....including the two dogs and the lizard.  I had such fun watching and assisting.  I hate that part of getting old; so many fun things that I no longer participate in.  Makes the holidays just another day for me.  :-(

I absolutley LOVE devilled and I'd bite the litte hand of any g-kid of mine who tried to grab one...as a role model I scream "mine!! get away" if they even get close to the plate.

As for coloring easter eggs I figure if the Lord wanted them colored they would come that way when the rabbit laid them.

Alternatives to dying eggs...jello molds

geee you could make those eggs as jello shooters...a good time was had by all...("stay away from their house during easter! i went there one year and i woke up three days later nekkid in a different state!")

I grew up in Germany and we used to paint eggs...ours weren't as fancy as these but different from a dyed egg. We worked on them during the Winter...the weather was so bad you couldn't go out much...We used to blow out the centers and rinse them out and they would keep year after year...Did an egg tree too..My mom still has some of these.

Egg Trees are a German tradition...this one is over the top...but pretty....We have a tree centerpiece with the decorated eggs tied to the branches.

I hang the plastic colored eggs on my bare little tree out front.  They look colorful and cheerful, and the neighbor kids enjoy them.

As to deviled eggs...I found this on pintrist and thought it would be a cute idea...I'm doing to do these with the nephews...they love this kinda stuff...We started the jello stuff because they were bored with just dipping eggs in color....how cute are these?
