I'm doing the same, Slopok - reading A Promised Land a few chapters at a time, also liking it so far.

I'm reading Obama's book at present A promised Land  701 pages and small print. I bought a headband magnifier with light. It came with 5 different lens so I can change the font size and read in bed and not disturbing Trish. Works.

The book is holding my interest but I'll read a couple of hours and then put it down for a day and read my other current book.

I have started back visiting our library. It has changed a lot but has more services than before.

In past 6 months I have sort of changed my choice of writing styles.  In the past most everything was male popular writers of mystery.  Chiefly law enforcement or legal formulas.

Have switched to Jodi Picoult and others on Audiobook.  Currently reading a bunch of large print condensed books. Not familiar with any of the Authors.  Most are romance or lifestyle struggles.

This weekend hope to install hoopla or other sites to order Audiobooks on line.  Our community Library is under construction.  I REALLY miss selecting books in person!

Thought about driving to other libraries in our county but think they are only doing pick up service as well because of Covid.

This has made me appreciate their service in my life!

Just finished that book, Carci. I agree, good book. Happy New Year and rabbit cubed.

Back in the day... Bookoholics listed their one favorite book of the year... I always found a few good reads from my book loving friends.

I will start by saying my favorite book of 2020 was The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek by Michele Richardson. It got me Googling images of the Kentucky blue people.

MERRY CHRISTMAS from Rapa

 T'was a month before Christmas,

 And all through the town,

 People wore masks,

 That covered their frown.

 The frown had begun

 Way back in the Spring,

 When a global pandemic

 Changed everything.

 They called it corona,

 But unlike the beer,

 It didn’t bring good times,

 It didn’t bring cheer.

 Airplanes were grounded,

 Travel was banned.

 Borders were closed

 By air, sea and land.

 The world entered lockdown

 To flatten the curve,

 The economy halted,

 And folks lost their nerve.

 From March to July

 We rode the first wave,

 People stayed home,

 They tried to behave.

 When summer emerged

 The lockdown was lifted.

 But away from caution,

 Many folks drifted.

 Now it’s December,

 And cases are spiking,

 Wave two has arrived,

 Much to our disliking.

(to be continued)
