TBD on Ning

Her February newsletter features a bit about her next Armand Gamache book due out in August.  The Nature Of The Beast is #11 in the series and I hope it has more content than the last one as I always enjoyed the earlier books in the series.

Am happy to learn THE NATURE OF THE BEAST story takes place mainly in Three Pines. Her last few books did not hold my interest as did her earlier ones.

Did you see her interview on Canadian TV regarding dementia?  Her beloved husband Michael unfortunately is a victim and she is his caretaker.  Here's the link, in case you missed it:

Thanx Ursula, that's a very interesting interview...  I did a little research and found that she is 24 years younger than her husband...  she is 56 while he is 80...  that is quite a difference... he could be her father!

It's never easy to lose someone to dementia.  DH & I went through that with 2 of our parents.

From her March newsletter, a bit about her new book which comes out August 25:

THE NATURE OF THE BEAST

As you might remember, in my last letter I told you the title of the next Gamache book.  THE NATURE OF THE BEAST.  Well, now I can give you a very brief description . . .

Hardly a day goes by when nine year old Laurent Lepage doesn't cry wolf. From alien invasions, to walking trees, to winged beasts in the woods, to dinosaurs spotted in the village of Three Pines, his tales are so extraordinary no one can possibly believe him. Including Armand and Reine-Marie Gamache, who now live in the little Quebec village.

But when the boy disappears the villagers are faced with the possibility that one of his tall tales might have been true.
And so begins a frantic search for the boy and the truth. What they uncover deep in the forest sets off a sequence of events that leads to murder, leads to an old crime, leads to an old betrayal. Leads right to the door of an old poet.

And now it is now, writes Ruth Zardo. And the dark thing is here.
A monster once visited Three Pines. And put down deep roots. And now, Ruth knows, it is back.

Armand Gamache, the former head of homicide for the Sûreté du Québec, must face the possibility that, in not believing the boy, he himself played a terrible part in what happens next.
