Anyone giving art (your own or someone else's) for holiday presents? (Solstice, Hannuhkah, New Years, Christmas, Kwanzaa, etc.) I tithe to the arts, but it also seems like the perfect chance to give art. It doesn't have to be your own art - and when you give art you can be supporting fellow artists. Anyone a member of art websites where they sell and can buy others' art? Share your experiences with us. I'm on a couple, but haven't listed my work. Are you having success with online sites?…

Should professional photographers be worried about the proliferation of point and shoot cameras and photographers? A lot of jobs that used to be the domain of professional only are now being done by Joe next door. Will the artistry of photography be enough to keep it as a "professional" occupation?

Hi y'all. I am a photographer for a local paper and I have some new photos to share in an album I have entitled "Bikes, Blues & BBQ 2009". I think they are interesting and thought I would share with you.

Which artwork or artist incites emotional turbulence in you?tag:teebeedee.ning.com,2009-07-24:1991841:Topic:1495572009-07-24T01:23:45.095ZMaricel Evascohttp://teebeedee.ning.com/profile/MaricelEvasco
The one artwork that has stirred emotional turbulence in me is Rodin's piece: The Gates of Hell showcased at the door of the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia. I felt very disturbed just staring at the piece. The gates are exquisitely sculpted- imo beyond compare. The details are so fine and sharp, its almost as if you are looking at a collage of sculptures. I can feel the experience of 'hell' just standing next to it.
Instead of defining what art is or isn't, perhaps it would be more useful, interesting, informative...to talk about what you like.

I love this work by Antony Gormley, British sculptor. Quantum Cloud XX (tornado). He has many varieties on this, but I've seen this one at the Nasher in Dallas. Evidently, a new one has been constructed in Greenwich, UK, 30 meters in height and for you engineering types, you might enjoy seeing some of the work needed to build this piece.…

As for me--that part both impressed me and made my eyes roll back into my head. ;-)
Oh, yeah, as a sculptor, I find myself more drawn to sculptural work.

Gustav Klimt is one of my favorite painters. I have several posters of his works hanging in my bedroom. He is a master at dealing with erotic in any detail and his subjects are often controversial. I consider him a great artist. Yet, others may feel his works are skating the fine line between art and pornography especially since his public depiction of women tend to be uninhibitedly erotic. His painting Danae is of a naked lady doing something indescribable to herself...lol.....…

Man, I think if I hear another relative describe me as very creative, I will puke, as the kiddies say. They might as well say, "You know she's an Artist" and roll their eyes..
